The sun on your face, a book in your hands, and not a care in the world–yes, this is what summer is made of! For most it’s also the time to relax and catch up on your pleasure reading. While it seems all of my Facebook friends are jetting off on vacation, they are also in need of book suggestions. This is a question I too frequently ask; “does anyone have any good book suggestions?.” Reading is one of my favorite things to do; the chance to get lost in a story, fall in love with characters of heroism, humility, and hilarity. If you are searching for a new book, here is a list I have read, are currently reading and planning to read.

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso— Calling all women entrepreneurs! Sophia is the CEO and founder of Nasty Girl. All about getting what you want by working hard for it, this book goes through her struggle and success in starting her own business.  Following your passion and trusting your gut, you will leave feeling motivated and ready to confidently succeed in whatever you do. If you are dreaming of having your own start-up, I recommend reading this!
The Vacationers by Emma Straub—  The perfect summer read. About a dysfunctional New York family who vacations in Spain for two weeks. It is completely relatable to all the humorous,  dramatic, and romantic encounters that take place.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple— Trying to find her mother, Bee compiles a list of e-mail messages, documents, and secret correspondence that will take her on a journey. In a hilarious, witty story, this book is about a relatable relationship between mother and daughter.
The One And Only by Emily Giffin— A unique story about love and loyalty. Shea Rigsby is very devoted to her town and her former college school. After her best friends mother dies, Shea reevaluates her life. This book is about following your heart and finding your passion.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green— Read it before you see the movie!  A beautiful novel about two teenage cancer patients who choose to stay optimistic with their lives as they fall in love, reminding you what is most important in life. So beautifully written, I was in love with every word. warning: keep a box of tissues near by.

There is nothing I love more than two of my favorite things collaborating and in this case it’s fashion meets fitness! Tory Burch has designed an exclusive collection for Fitbit. From chic brass to her signature print, each stylish wristband is everything you would imagined a Tory Burch fitness product to be. If you are unfamiliar with Fitbit it is a wireless activity tracker that measures data from your steps, calorie intake, and sleep pattern. A great way to motivate and challenge yourself to stay active and healthy day after day. I have a Fitbit on my birthday list and am now even more excited to track my fitness in the most chic, stylish way!

One of my (many) favorite things about living in New York City is all of the rooftop bars! There are lots of fabulous ones to choose from: Refinery Rooftop, 230-5th, Hotel Chantelle, Brass Monkey, and so on. Being able to enjoy a few cocktails with friends while overlooking the most amazing city really is a wonderful moment and the best feeling in the world! I will always choose a rooftop bar over any other type of bar. Some of the rooftop bars you do have to dress up to get in, while others are a little more relaxed. I put together this look, a look I would normally wear out on the town in the city. I tend to choose simple dresses with a hint of sparkle and a pop of color. What are your favorite rooftop bars?

Shop the look:

A little secret– I have never been much of a heels person. When it comes to deciding what shoes to wear I tend to pick ballerina flats (or a small heel/wedge). Sure when it comes to weddings, special events, and nights out when I am feeling sassy I will wear heels, but flats are much more me. There are many reasons why I favor flats over heels, but it’s mostly because I find them to be classic and chic (think Audrey Hepburn and C.Z. Guest). And flats now a days are not your mothers loafers, they are stylish. I was happy when I saw at last year’s New York fashion week where flats were the thing to wear! When I first moved to New York and got a job at a popular retail company, I convinced myself heels would make me look more fashionable and put together only to realize I barely could make it through the day. Living in the city you walk everywhere: to the subway, work, brunch with friends, central park, you name it; wearing flats ended up being a much better, happier choice. My appreciation and love for the classic flats continue to grow deeper each day. Here are some great choices that are currently on my must have list!
