J.crew lace top

Happy Halloween! This year I went as the scariest thing I could think of…. myself, BOO! There is an annual NYC Halloween Parade that will pass by my street, so I may stop by and check it out tonight. It is supposedly the biggest Halloween event in the world. Still not going to dress up for it, but will be interesting to see people’s costumes.

Now that Halloween is over it is time to for us to get back into our regular clothes. I have been wearing this lace top for the past few months. I first wore it during Fashion Week and have since worn it to events and nights out. I love the bell sleeves and lace detail. The detailing truly is pretty. It is a crop top, so I wear it with high-waist pants. It also comes in other colors. I couldn’t decide between white or black (also love the blue), but ended up with white as I want to wear lighter colors in the winter– at least attempt to.

I am OBSESSED with these high-waist jeans, I wear them all of the time. Once you go high-waist you never go back. What I do like about these jeans is that they are loosely fitted. Meaning not skinny, but not baggy either. It makes them that much more comfortable to wear. I wear these jeans dressed up to go out or with a baggy sweater and my Keds walking around the city.  They are a little like mom jeans but more I’m not a regular mom, I am a cool mom type jeans. To be honest I was so surprised how much I loved them when I bought them. I thought I would end up returning them, but the second I put them on I knew these jeans would be worn a lot this fall and winter season.

“I believe in the good things coming”

Happy Friday!! I am ready for one cozy weekend! I was suppose to be heading upstate tomorrow for a short escape out of New York to see some fall foliage but the person I was going to go with unfortunately is now sick. My entire weekend plans fell through and I have nothing to do. On the bright side I can now stay cozy and warm and binge watch Stranger Things 2 all weekend.

We have been friends for a few years now so I feel comfortable turning to you for advice. I have a question that has been burning in my mind, keeping me up at night….. can I pull off a beret? Now it is better than ever for me to sport the Parisian look as I have been gravitating towards hats lately. Maybe it is my laziness to do my hair or my old age that I just don’t care if I look good in them or not, hats are my new thing. Berets have been dubbed the it hat of the season, so I must follow suit and get one. I have always found berets to be trés chic and have been itching to wear one for years but could never find the courage to (i.e. I don’t look good in hats; big head, thin hair). I am, more than ever, determined to frolic around the city in a beret!

My only problem now is that I can’t decide which color to get. Should I go safe and get a black one?  I do wear a lot of black in the winter and don’t want to look like I am doing choreography, or worse,  wearing a robber’s costume. A color one like red, green or blue would be nice, but would I wear it as much? I have thought of getting a cream colored one which would go nicely with everything. Maybe I’ll play it safe and get a creamed color one for my first beret, then play around with a blue or red one.

Are you a fan of berets, and if so, what color would you buy/wear?!

burgundy

Now that the weather is getting colder, it is finally time to pull out our dark colored clothing. Burgundy is a nice alternative to black if you are wanting to wear a deeper palette. It is a color I unfortunately do not currently have in my closet, but this fall season I have really gravitated towards. Burgundy is a great neutral that will go well with other fall colors like green, camel, mustard, and black. You can even wear it as a monochromatic look, which I adore. Right now I have my eye on this overcoat, these pants, this hat, and this sweater.… honestly I want it all!! I have made a burgundy style guide so you can incorporate this chic fall color into your wardrobe.
