Happy Friday and happy beginning of summer!! This week got off to an awkward start. Monday morning while working out at Body by Simone, not even 10 minutes into the class we were dancing and I tripped over my own two feet and fell flat on my butt. I laughed, shrugged, and said “eh Mondays”. It did scare me a little as I saw my ankle roll and I thought for a second that I sprained my ankle because, well, it’s me. Luckily I did not just tweaked it a little. I iced it when I got home and stayed away from cardio from most of this week just to be on the safe side. All those years of dance lessons finally payed off.

To welcome the official start of summer, Lilly Pulitzer is celebrating the sunshine season with every Lilly lover out there by having them wear their favorite item from the brand. Lilly Pulitzer represents summer, optimism, color, and a good party. I bought my first Lilly in my mid-20’s. It was a plain light blue shift dress that I still have. After the first dip into this colorful brand I was completely hooked. I started to buy different colored shifts, beach cover-ups, cute accessorizes and more.
Last week at the Lilly event I got this cute shift to celebrate this annual day. What really drew me to this dress is the mix of print and structure, a twist on a classic. The vertical stripes with floral prints on the side is so different than any other Lilly dress I have seen. When trying it on I was a little worried about the bandeau cut out since I do have have a little bit of a larger chest. Luckily it fits! If I had gone up a size it would have been too big around my waist… story of my life. Anyway, the stretch material is comfortable and the length is perfect. I am excited to wear this shift to events this summer!
If you are in NewYork City today, the Lilly Pulitzer store (located on Madison Ave. in the UES) is hosting a fun celebration for National Wear Your Lilly Day. From 11am-2pm they will have an outdoor juice stand and cabana that is worth checking out. Unfortunately I am not able to visit my favorite Lilly store as I am swamped today with work and events, but I highly encourage all of you to go! And to wear your Lilly today! If you can’t go today at least stop by your local Lilly store to take a look at their summer collection. There is so many cute dresses and rompers that I want. I am no stranger to wearing a classic little white dress. In fact my entire summer wardrobe consist of mostly white dresses. I originally bought this dress as a back up plan for my friend’s birthday party a month ago. I knew if my original outfit didn’t workout, when in doubt wear a classic white dress. Well my original dress didn’t fit properly and I felt it was too fancy for the occasion, so I wore this white dress. I am so happy I did! It fit perfectly with the evening celebration and I felt comfortable in it. It has a stretch material that makes it easy to move (and groove) in. The puffy sleeves give a nice, modern detail to it. This is truly my new favorite white dress.
