4th of july

Can you believe the 4th of July is in a few weeks?! As it is one of my favorite holidays I am so excited for the festivities. My original plan for the 4th was to go to the Hamptons then fly home to Columbus on the 6th for the Taylor Swift concert.  Unfortunately my plans fell through for the Hamptons so now I am going to Columbus for a week. I was pretty bummed at first that the 4th in the Hamptons did not work out, but the more I think about it the happier I am that it did not. The Hamptons would of have been a crazy week (fun but crazy) and right now I need a vacation from all of that. I have been feeling a little rundown lately and a relaxing vacation at home is exactly what I need. Plus NO ONE does the 4th better than Upper Arlington Ohio. NO ONE. It is also my hometowns 100th anniversary and I want to be there to celebrate it. From watching the parade in the morning, hopping from picnic to picnic, and watching the fireworks at the park, I know the 4th is going to be amazing as always!

I am not sure what I am going to wear for the red, white, and BOOM holiday. Usually I opt for a dress in the traditional American colors. Normally I will wear one outfit to the parade then change for the rest of the day. In the morning I will wear shorts and a tank, then in the afternoon/evening a dress. Whatever I decide to wear I know it will be cute and patriotic!

What are you wearing for the 4th?

Madewell gingham tie-strap dress

J.Crew high rise denim shorts in white with button fly

La Vie Rebecca Taylor stripe jersey dress

J.Crew cropped rugby-striped tank top

“Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen”

-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Happy Friday!! My good lord this past week I was a one busy bee. It started last weekend when I spent all day Saturday and Sunday at the Popsugar Playground convention at Pier 94. The event was lovely with great brands to shop, amazing panelist, and fun workouts to participate in. My favorite panelist were Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, Tiffany Haddish, Sallie Krawcheck, and Gabrielle Bernstein. Although I was excited to listen to all of the panelist, I was DYING to see Gabby Bernstein the most. I have been following Bernstein’s teachings for years and it was on my bucket to see her speak live. She is so inspiring and a great reminder to always find the silver lining in every situation. Besides me eating up every single word Bernstein said, I also had on my bucket list to take a class from Kayla Itsines, founder of the BBG workouts. It was a great 45 workout, all cardio based. I am thinking of going back on the BBG guide to do during the days I do not have time to workout. It’s a great way to get some exercise in. After Kayla’s class I took a 45 minute class with Simone De La Rue, owner of Body by Simone. I have taken BBS a bunch of times, you probably have noticed from my Insta Stories. I have even taken class from Simone herself, but it’s always a great experience to do one of your favorite workouts with the owner themselves.

Summer is about bright, bold colors and wearing vibrant prints. A time when you can be playful with your wardrobe, donning pieces that stand out amongst the crowd. My style is dependent on my mood. Sometimes I like to wear energetic pieces, sometimes I prefer a more classic, minimalist look. That is the beauty of fashion, you dress yourself according to your current mood.

Yellow, as we all know, is a cheerful color. A color that looks great against sun-kissed skin. It has the semblance of the sun, fields of sunflowers, a positive attitude and happiness, and the feel of summer. It’s a color that I love to wear when I want to stand out. When I first saw this marigold dress with pink and blue florals, I knew it was the perfect dress for summer. It’s as if you are a cheerful garden.

This marigold floral dress is easy to throw on for a night out or to an event. It’s not form fitting at all so I suggest going down a size. It has a subtle ruffle on the blouson sleeves, adding an extra detail to this already pretty garment. It’s a dress you will be reaching for time and time again this season when you want to feel cheerful and when you want to stand out.

I’ve been moving and grooving a lot lately! Since Studio B is currently relocating (please open soon!), I have been trying new workouts and heading back to some old favorites. Over the weekend during Popsugar Playground convention I took a class from Kayla Itsines. You may recognize her as the creator of BBG guides that everyone on the internet is doing. Anyway, I have been dying to take a class from her when she is in town and finally I was able to! Her class was all plyometrics since we did not have equipment to use. After 45 minutes I was definitely sweating up a storm. Also this week I FINALLY tried 305 Fitness! It’s been on my radar for so long. 305 is a dance cardio workout but feels more like you are at the club. There is a DJ who plays great clubbing music, the lights continuously change, and the energy is high! The movement is not really choreographed but is. You are not doing a dance per say but you do choreographed movements. I’ll take any opportunity to shake my hips and have fun! I loved it! Another class I have been frequenting is DanceBody. Choreographed dances with sculpting. I enjoy this class a lot!

Lately I have been going easy on lifting weights. My left shoulder is inflamed again and I am trying to not push it. It’s very frustrating because I know I can technically lift a weight over my head but I am doing the movements without a weight to protect my shoulder. Better to not lift a weight then to tear something. I’ve been looking into trying acupuncture and I want to do cryotherapy where they spot treat an area on your body. I haven’t really had the time to do schedule an appointment. If next week isn’t as crazy as this week I will try to go. We will see!

Since I am not really lifting weights I have been doing a lot more cardio workouts, which includes running outside and doing dance cardio classes. Of course this gives me an excuse to go shopping for new activewear. I need new tank tops as some of mine have seen better days. I would like another pair of leggings and a few new sports bras. Can never have too many activewear items! Here are a few on my current wishlist.
