at home workouts

From YouTube to your favorite fitness studio to guide series, there are so many options out there for us to never miss a workout. It’s great for when there is a blizzard outside, for when we are traveling, or for being too busy to get to class. At home workouts have dated back to the Jane Fonda, Richard Simmons era with aerobic and sculpting videos. And any woman (or man) who religious did those videos in the 80’s can tell you, they worked! Now online streaming has become easier for us to get in a good sweat session. I did a few online workouts when I was home for the holidays, even though I went to System of Strength a few times.  There were some days I couldn’t get to the studio, it was easier for everyone (sharing cars, plus my niece) for home workouts. I would go down into the basement, turn on one of my favorite online workouts and sweat. Even when I am not on vacation I will stream workouts. Lets say after running I also wanted to get in weights but do not want to pay for a class, I will turn on an at home video to get in my strength workouts.  It’s a great money saver!

In the beginning of winter I made a promise to myself to start wearing more colors than just black this season. To carry over my bright colorful aesthetics of summer into my winter wardrobe. I still often wear black on black, but have been incorporating a lighter palette attire here and there. Wearing colorful clothing  in the winter is a nice change.

“take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing. Believe in yourself.

And believe that there is a loving source just waiting to be asked to make yours dreams come true.”

Happy Friday!! And a Happy New Year! It is strange to think that NYE was only a few days ago, feels more like a week. I had the best time ringing in the new year with friends at the Brooklyn Heights Social Club. New Year’s Eve isn’t my favorite day of the year. I recently read an article that said “NYE is fine, it’s just fine.” If you go out you feel overwhelmed by the crowd, paid too much, and wish you stayed home or did something low key. If you stayed home or did something low key you get FOMO and wish you were ringing in the new year with a bang as you watch your Insta Stories of everyone else at a party. NYE is just fine– it’s neither great or terrible. That is how I view it. But still I had a good time– could of have been worse, could of have been better. At least I danced most of the night– which is always a plus for me.

Although the holidays are over it does not mean we have to put away our going out clothes. Even someone like me who likes to hibernate in the winter ends up going out and celebrating birthdays, have drinks with friends, go on dates, and so on. A little black dress is your most reliable go-to during the season. It’s simple, chic, and you know you will always look good in it.

I have a birthday celebrating to attend to in the next few weeks where, depending on what we do, I am planning on wearing this velvet black dress. Events are starting up as well and I am sure something else will pop up on my social calendar that I can repeatedly wear this to. You can never go wrong with a little black dress.
