“Happiness, not in another place but in this place… not for another hour, but this hour”

-Walt Whitman

Happy Friday! The countdown to my return to NYC has officially begun! In a few short weeks, I will be driving back to the city and I can not wait. I have missed the city so much and even though COVID is not over, it’s time for me to return. I have been dreaming about walking through neighborhoods, sitting in my favorite parks, seeing my friends, and more. Originally I was planning on leaving next weekend but decided to stay for another week because of Father’s Day, a few things (outfits) I am waiting to be delivered, and I have a dentist appointment.  So at the end of June I will be back in the city! Although I am going to be very sad to leave Columbus as I have loved being home with my family these past 3 months.

Father's Day Gift Guide

There is so much happening in the world today that Father’s Day seems to be in the back of everyone’s mind. The day to celebrate all the special men in your life is around the corner- June 21st. I will still be here in Columbus on Father’s Day to celebrate with my parents. Although I am eager to get back to New York, I am glad that I will be here. My dad means the world to me, he truly is the greatest man I have ever known.

sunhat

hat // dress (similar) // towel

For the past few years, hats have become a staple part of my seasonal wardrobe. In the summer, however, they are more than just for style, I wear them to protect my face from the sun. Although I love the sun shining on my skin while I lay poolside or simply reading a book out on the patio, I am also someone who takes precautions to protect myself from sun damage. I always wear SPF and when I know I will be out and about for a while, I will throw on a sun hat (sometimes ball cap if need be).

tennis

This past weekend I was riding bikes around the neighborhood with my dad. As we approached the park we saw that the tennis nets were back up and ready for the summer. Do to COVID-19 they were taken down to ensure social distancing. After seeing the nets back up and people playing, I asked my dad if he wanted to get a match in or two before I head back to New York in a few weeks. My dad is pretty good at tennis, played for Wabash in college. I took lessons as a kid but quit because it was too hot… melodramatic even then. Although I quit taking lessons, I continued to enjoy the sport by playing with my dad at the park and at the club or hitting the ball against my parent’s garage (to their patient dislike). And of course, watching the US Open and Wimbledon. A few years ago I took lessons at Midtown Tennis Club with Sam. It was a lot of fun playing again, but I have to admit I am not the best. I hit a lot of moonballs and some even over the roof. Oops! But I improved as the weeks went on. Although I do like to think I am the next Serena Williams.
