silk scarf

When you think of the fall season, one item that comes to your mind are scarves. The cozy quintessential fall item you wrap around your body to keep yourself warm. Today, however, we are not talking about the blanket-like item that keeps you snug, we are talking about silk scarves. I call silk scarves the decor of accessories. Their purpose is to add detail, to elevate your outfit. Silk scarves are seasonless; wear hanging loosely over a shift dress, tied around your neck with a button-up, or draped over your shoulders with a sweater. Over the years I have accumulated a few silk scarves of different sizes and colors. My dream is to own a classic Hermés and/or Chanel silk scarf. Anyway, I much prefer the larger scarves so I can fold it into a triangle; a portion hanging on my back and tied in the front. I also love to let it hang loosely, as seen above. Here are a few silk scarves I have on my radar that can be worn not only during the fall season but throughout the year.

As we transition into the fall season, I am not quite ready to throw on jeans and a heavy sweater. It is still warm enough to wear a dress around town or while working from home. I am all about maxi and midi dresses these days that I can easily throw on; paired with sneakers for an everyday look, heels for a dinner date, or booties later on in the season. This floral navy dress has been one that I reach for day after day to throw on. I love the easiness of it; not form-fitting at all. It’s a little on the baggy side, I am wearing an x-small for size reference. I like that it is not form-fitting so it gives room for comfort and mobility. If you were to want a more fitted look you could easily cinch the waist with a belt, but I prefer for it to be loose. Once the weather gets a little chillier, I can throw on a sweater over it creating a two-piece look. A fall throw on dress that is comfortable, cute, and versatile is all I need this season.

Happy Friday! Today is a somber day as we remember the events of 9/11. I will never forget this day; where I was while watching the devastation of the twin towers being hit. The fear, sadness, confusion, and anger that rippled through the country. What came out of this tragedy was unity. We banned together as a country, as one nation, as a family.

fall decor

Living in a small studio apartment in New York, I do not have the luxury to have seasonal decor. There isn’t anywhere to store such items. Of course, I have little decorative objects for holidays, mostly Christmas. Ok, only for Christmas. But I do enjoy, however, browsing seasonal and holiday decor. I ponder what it would be like to have a house where I can switch out pillow covers, put up a wreath, have specialty plates, and more. I’ve gathered a few cute fall decor ideas for the season. Giving your home a warm harvest vibe.
