valentine's day outfit ideas

The season of love is upon us. I am looking forward to the city being decorated in hearts and shades of pink and red. Valentine’s Day is only two weeks away, and if you are like me, then you are already planning on what you are going to wear. My plans for V-Day are not entirely concrete yet, but it doesn’t mean I can’t start shopping for an outfit. Whether you are celebrating Galentine’s Day, an evening with your significant other, or it will be a day of self-love, here are a few outfit ideas to wear on the day of love.

One of the top trends for spring 2020 is polka-dots. I don’t want to call this a comeback, because polka-dots are always in style, but this coming season it will be everywhere. But before the spring season hits, why not be ahead of the trend by wearing polka-dots now. This cute ruffle bow-tie polka-dot dress (on sale!) is perfect for work or any professional setting, then taking it out on the town for happy hour. It’s playful, yet not over the top. I have paired it with knee-high boots but can easily be worn with heels and flats. It’s loose fitted, a shirtdress, but doesn’t feel like wearing a bag on your body. For size reference, I am wearing a size 0. This is a great alternative dress to wear to work that brings a little fun to your professional day.

What I would give to be on a beach right now. The sun shining down on me, warming my body. The sea smelling salty and fresh. Instead, I am here, in New York, freezing. When will I learn that I need to take a vacation this time of the year? If not for the Vitamin D, at least for all of the cute resort clothes that I am swooning over. If you are about to take a trip to a sunnier place, I have rounded up some great resort wear items. I have also created a resort shop on my blog that I will be updating as time goes on.  And if you are going on vacation, please bring back the sun and warm weather with you. I’d really appreciate it!

When people ask me to describe my style, I always say feminine, classic, with a dash of trendy. Growing up my mom always said to buy staple pieces, in classic colors, because it will never go out of style. As much as I love a good print or a bright color, the older I get the more I want to fill my closet with minimalist, timeless items.
