Although it is almost summer it does not mean we need to put away our beloved blazers. A great way to incorporate a blazer into your spring and summer wardrobe is with a floral print. It ties into the sunshine season while still being professional and put together. Blazers will always be in style, and to me, is an investment piece that you will be thankful you have in your closet.

swimsuits

Over the weekend it was so beautiful here in New York; the sun was out, the temperature was around 80 degrees, and it felt amazing to be outside. I spent most of my staycation here in the city out and about, making sure I enjoyed the nice weather. One thing I did was throw on my swimsuit, went to the park and laid out. I brought along with me my new book Catch-22. I have never read it before and honestly didn’t know much about it except that it was a well-liked book. The sudden interest sparked after I started watching Hulu’s new mini-series Catch-22, starring George Clooney, Christopher Abbott (ugh, swoon!), and Kyle Chandler. After the first episode I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the book. If you have or have not read the book I still highly recommend the mini-series, it is really good!

When people think of New York they think of Times Square, Central Park, or The World Trade Center. What many people do not know about is all the wonderful hidden gems this city has to offer. My personal favorite would be carousels. If you can believe it, New York has 13 carousels hidden around the city. I was even surprise to find that out, I could only think of 5. Anyway, one of my favorite’s is the Jane’s Carousel in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Located right on the pier, it has a beautiful view of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Near the carousel is the Time Out Market Building and Dumbo House. It’s really a great excuse to spend a beautiful summer day in Brooklyn.

beach cover ups

Yesterday when I was at the Draper James event I was discussing swimwear and beach cover ups with Carly and Carter. We all agreed that cover ups are usually the last thing we buy for the summer, sometimes even forgetting. Last year I went a little crazy in buying new bikinis, as J.Crew had A LOT of high-waisted bikinis as part of their summer collection. High-waisted bikinis are the only style that works well with my body. Even though I have plenty of swim suits I still like to look at what is in this years collection. That is when I started to aimlessly wonder over to beach cover ups. As I was searching for one to buy I realized I wasn’t finding any that truly sparked my interest. Sure there were a lot of cute ones that I would’ve been perfectly happy with, the problem was I wasn’t sure what type of cover up I wanted. Do I want a tunic? Do I want a maxi? Do I want a romper? Do I dare to be risky and buy a two-piece cover up? I wasn’t sure what I wanted but knew I didn’t want something plain and typical. I already have plain and typical ones that I can easily throw on when I do not care what I look like– i.e going to the park to lay out. But what about the times I am on the beach or at the pool and want to look put together. While I am still on my quest to find my new summer cover up, here are a few that I have my eye on.
