If there is any indication of last week being in the low temps and this week’s wind, snow, and rain combination, it’s that this winter season is going to be a cold one. We are reaching that point of the season where warmth is more important than being fashionable– looking like that kid in A Christmas Story bundled up. But why should we look like the abominable snowman just because we are cold. We should be able to stay warm and look good. Luckily I have my faux fur coat from Apparis to keep me warm even during the coldest of days. It’s fashionable and warm… like really warm.

The only faux fur coats that I currently have are black and brown. I wanted to add something with color but not too bright. This blush was the perfect color to add to my wardrobe. Apparis is a New York City based faux fur company (with a french attitude) founded by Amélie Brick and Lauren Nouchi. With their background working in prominent fashion houses in NYC and Lauren growing up around the fashion environment in the South of France, the two joined forces to create a company that uses 100% vegan products with approachable prices. I have to say their faux fur coats are the softest, most comfortable coats I have ever worn. I adore my Sophie jacket and would love to add the Sarah Quilted faux fur jacket in either cloud or ivory. Brick and Nouchi created the perfect faux fur coat that will keep you warm throughout the winter season.

As stores are starting to put out their candy hearts and long stem roses with the approach of Valentine’s Day, I have been thinking about all of the pick up lines I have endured over the years. Some made me laugh; like the time I was in Florida on vacation with my parents during high school and some guy walked up to me saying I dropped my name tag– which was a sugar packet. I laughed, my dad said what an idiot. Some pick up lines have made me feel uncomfortable; recently a guy was trying to hit on me by saying I looked wild– that I look as if I stand up on bars yelling shots and that I like to have a really good time. Yeeaaah, you are definitely barking up the wrong tree. I rolled my eyes and walked away. Or my favorite pick up line ever said to me; a drunk guy stumbled up to me at a bar with no prior engagement between us and said “why are all the really beautiful girls bitches?” Followed by “you must be a bitch because you are so beautiful.” I still laugh when I think about it….. I guess I have to give him points for making me laugh. Of course the pick up lines that do work are the friendly ones; “Hey, my name is….”. Simple and normal my friends… simple and normal.

The power suit is still a big sought after trend you will see hitting the streets and on the runways. As we have discussed before, wearing a suit is no longer just for Wall Street. I, for one, love wearing suits even though my office is the kitchen island in my apartment. Suits are no longer boring and basic. They are fun, expressive, feminine, and powerful. And when a suit comes in pink– well then, it must be mine.
