When it comes to summer dressing there is a lot of ways we can play with our style. One of the biggest trends right now is summer hats. Of course hats have always been in style, but I have seen more and more women walking around with a sunhat or fedora on. Maybe this is due to the rising awareness of sun protection or maybe it’s simply a chic fashion statement. Either way adding a summer hat can really change up your look. Personally in the summer I often reach for a hat to wear, especially if I know I am going to be outside for a long period of time. I wear my summer hat to the pool/beach, shopping around the city, having drinks on the rooftop with friends, and to events. When I do add a hat to my outfit I always feel a little more glamours and chic. I currently own the classic panama hat and this cute wide brim hat. I would love to add this boater hat with white ribbon for fashionable looks and this darling pink ribbon sunhat for the pool. Hats truly are the perfect finishing touch to any outfit you may be wearing.
Summer is a time for travel, celebrations, concerts, and rooftop drinks with friends. We are out and about during this season which means we tend to shop more for outfits to wear. When we are trying to save for that European vacation we have always dreamed of, buying a new outfit from our favorite designers for each event does not always look good on our finances. Sometimes a gal needs to put herself on a budget. Finding great items for less than $100 will have your bank account thanking you instead of screaming at you. Here are some of my current favorite summer styles that won’t make you count your pretty pennies for your next vacation.
If you stand tall, wear a crown, are sweet on the inside but spiky on the outside then Kate Spade New York’s pineapple summer collection is perfect for you. I’ve never been one to wear fruit on my clothes but there was something fun about this off the shoulder pineapple pink dress that I couldn’t resist. It’s a playful dress to wear in the summer that is not over the top. Fashion should be fun, and no one has more fun with style than Kate Spade.
Time to pull out your favorite printed shift, today is National Wear Your Lilly Day! To welcome the official start of summer, Lilly Pulitzer is celebrating the sunshine season with every Lilly lover out there by having them wear their favorite item from the brand. Lilly Pulitzer represents summer, optimism, color, and a good party. I bought my first Lilly in my mid-20’s. It was a plain light blue shift dress that I still have. After the first dip into this colorful brand I was completely hooked. I started to buy different colored shifts, beach cover-ups, cute accessorizes and more.
Last week at the Lilly event I got this cute shift to celebrate this annual day. What really drew me to this dress is the mix of print and structure, a twist on a classic. The vertical stripes with floral prints on the side is so different than any other Lilly dress I have seen. When trying it on I was a little worried about the bandeau cut out since I do have have a little bit of a larger chest. Luckily it fits! If I had gone up a size it would have been too big around my waist… story of my life. Anyway, the stretch material is comfortable and the length is perfect. I am excited to wear this shift to events this summer!
If you are in NewYork City today, the Lilly Pulitzer store (located on Madison Ave. in the UES) is hosting a fun celebration for National Wear Your Lilly Day. From 11am-2pm they will have an outdoor juice stand and cabana that is worth checking out. Unfortunately I am not able to visit my favorite Lilly store as I am swamped today with work and events, but I highly encourage all of you to go! And to wear your Lilly today! If you can’t go today at least stop by your local Lilly store to take a look at their summer collection. There is so many cute dresses and rompers that I want. Hope you have a wonderful and colorful National Wear Your Lilly Day!!
