I’ve got the blues. Don’t worry, I am not sad or anything, just wearing lots of blue lately. Blue to me is a color, no matter what shade, that looks good on everyone. It’s a palette that can be a neutral when you want it to be or colorful when you want something more than classic white or black. I have been looking for dresses in a blue shade color that are not fancy but also not casual. A dress that I can easily wear during the day but can also wear it out at night.
Fireworks, parades, sparklers, and sales! What is there not to love about the 4th of July! While you are patriotically running around town don’t forget some of your favorite brands are having major sales during this week. Brands are slowly getting rid of their summer stock, gearing up for fall, but summer is not over! This is the best time to grab the dress or swimsuit you have been eyeing . Here are a few of my must have items from my favorite brands, making it easier for you to search for sales and not taking you away from family time.
When you think of summer patterns a few come to mind– florals, seersucker, and gingham. Dubbed the checker pattern, gingham means striped. Some may call it plaid, although the significant difference is larger stripes that the yarn is woven over each other to create different sizes. Gingham is woven to create symmetrical squares and with only one color and white yarn. The yarn is also cotton making it lighter weight and a summertime classic.
When it comes to summer dressing there is a lot of ways we can play with our style. One of the biggest trends right now is summer hats. Of course hats have always been in style, but I have seen more and more women walking around with a sunhat or fedora on. Maybe this is due to the rising awareness of sun protection or maybe it’s simply a chic fashion statement. Either way adding a summer hat can really change up your look. Personally in the summer I often reach for a hat to wear, especially if I know I am going to be outside for a long period of time. I wear my summer hat to the pool/beach, shopping around the city, having drinks on the rooftop with friends, and to events. When I do add a hat to my outfit I always feel a little more glamours and chic. I currently own the classic panama hat and this cute wide brim hat. I would love to add this boater hat with white ribbon for fashionable looks and this darling pink ribbon sunhat for the pool. Hats truly are the perfect finishing touch to any outfit you may be wearing.
