Holiday Gift Guide

valentine's day

The other day I was mindlessly walking around the city when I looked into a store window only to see a Valentine’s Day display. I thought it was a little early to already put out decor for the holiday, but in truth it is right around the corner. Is this year going fast or does time simple not exist anymore? With so many things closed down, it causes a limited amount of date night options. Valentine’s Day could seem a little frivolous to you because of this. Maybe you thought that before we were in a pandemic. To me, I think Valentine’s Day is still important, maybe more than ever. It’s the celebration of the ones you love- even if Cupid has not hit you with an arrow. It’s about celebrating love; love for family, love for friends, self love, love for your significant other, and love for community. What we need more than ever right now is to celebrate and spread love. (more…)

new years eve decor

Soon we will be saying goodbye to 2020 and hello to a new year. After a year we have had, I am looking forward to what the new year brings. New Year’s Eve is the night we dress up in sequins, wear party hats, drink too much champagne, and if we are lucky, kiss someone when the ball drops at midnight. This year, however, we will be staying indoors and in comfy, cozy clothes. Although we will not be ringing in the new year at some fabulous party does not mean we can’t make our home look a little festive for the evening. Here are a few cute New Year’s Eve decor ideas for your at-home celebration.

christmas list

A holiday gift guide wouldn’t be complete without sharing what I asked Santa for Christmas. The other day I was thinking back to Christmas as a kid. How my parents would give my sister and me a catalog from Toys-R-Us (before the internet) and I would circle everything. Of course, I didn’t get everything that I wanted. I probably forgot what I circled by the time Christmas morning rolled around, or even when it was time to write my list to Santa. But as a kid, my wants were endless. Now as an adult it becomes harder to think about what you want. I can easily go out and purchase everything on my list. And my presents are fewer than as a kid. I get one gift from Santa, one gift from my parents, and one gift from my sister and brother-in-law. And I am perfectly happy with it. Christmas becomes more about memories and spending time with family than it does about gifts as you get older. As much as I miss the excitement of presents as a child, I think Christmas holds more meaning as an adult. With that being said, I am not one to pass on receiving a gift. So here is my Christmas list this year. All I want for Christmas is you…. (more…)

stocking stuffers

Santa Clause is coming to town! In a little over a week, the jolly old Saint Nick will slide down our chimneys to leave presents under the tree and in the stockings hung by the fireplace. As a Christmas Day tradition my family, before laying eyes on the tree, will open our stockings first to see what Santa left us. As a kid, we used to get all sorts of toys in our stockings. As a teenager, it was usually a CD. Now it’s filled with gift cards or one item like lipstick, underwear, etc. One thing that has always been constant is M&Ms in the candy cane container. If you are still looking for stocking stuffer ideas to gift this year, I have gathered a few ideas for men and women. (more…)
