Mother's Day gift guide

If there is anyone on this earth that deserves to be celebrated it is our mothers. I am amazed sometimes how selfless and amazing my mother is. She would drop anything to help another in need, especially family members. The best part about her though is that I can talk to her about anything and she doesn’t judge me. When I get excited over fashion, nutrition, or woo-woo meditation stuff, even if she doesn’t agree or understand it, she listens to me. When I became gluten free she started looking up recipes for me. When I started this blog she was my number one cheerleader/photographer/momager. My mother is my best friend. I do not know what I would do without her. Since I live in New York and she lives in Ohio I do not see her often, but we do talk on the phone every day. It is usually my favorite part of the day. Unfortunately I will not be traveling home for Mother’s Day as I will be going home a few weeks after for a wedding.

Celebrating our mother’s only once a year is not enough. They should be celebrated everyday! This year my mother is telling me not to get her anything, a card is enough. I know this is her selfless personality coming through. I am going to ignore her wishes and still get her something. I have not narrowed down exactly what I am going to get her, but I have a few ideas in mind. Honestly she deserves the world.

Happy Friday!! Wow April has been busy– but a good kind of busy! Last weekend was jammed packed with events. Friday night I went to the Major League Baseball’s Opening Night Food Fest event. There were 30 different food venders representing each major league team. The food (what I could eat) was amazing and they had fun things to do like a pool of balls or a giant hotdog seesaw. I had the best time!

When Olay invited me to be their guest at Beautycon over the weekend I was a little hesitant as I said yes. I never imagined going to the weekend long event. I am not a beauty blogger and I am the last person to give any sort of makeup tutorial. I  didn’t think I belonged there. My knowledge of makeup is either stage makeup from my days of dancing or my current minimalist everyday look of only wearing mascara. I do add some blush, maybe a nude lipstick, concealer, and recently tapped into darkening my eyebrows a little when going to an event or a special night out. I didn’t know the difference between highlighting and contouring until a few weeks ago. Makeup is not really my thing, but skincare is. I figured at the very least I could go home with a few skincare products and enjoy a few fun vendors.  I gratefully accepted Olay’s invitation knowing this would be an experience, one that I would not have sought out myself. And I want to say yes to as many experiences as possible.

Happy Friday!! This week was a busy one– mostly a good busy but some of it made my head spin. Last weekend I moved rooms as my roommate moved out and I took over her bedroom. I still have a few things to do to the room like put up shelves. My dad flew in to help me move my stuff. We had the best time! It only took my 2 hours to move everything, so we had most of the weekend to hang out.
