“I write to taste life twice”

-Anais Nin

Writing has always been a big part of my life. I have kept a journal since I was little. I write about my thoughts, ideas, what I am upset about and what I am grateful for. Writing is a way for me to express my inner thoughts that I may not be able to fully articulate to someone else. It has been therapeutic for me to get out all of my anger when I am frustrated or upset. When I went through the worst times of my life, writing about what I was thankful for really helped me see the positive, the good things that were happening to me.  For a whole year I wrote in a gratitude journal everyday, and it was not the easiest thing to do either. Some days you just want to write about all the terrible events that are happening or you want to vent about someone, but I forced myself to write about what did make me smile—even if it was as simple as I listened to my favorite song or I thought the flowers in the park were beautiful. Whatever it was I could mustard to make me see beauty in an ugly situation, I wrote about. Then there are the times I wrote about what I was truly happy about. You know those times when you can’t stop talking about an event or someone you like and you have out weighed the number of people you can talk their ear off about it? A journal was another way to talk about it. Writing down the good things in my life is a great way to relive the happy moments.

J.Crew has been in the news a lot lately, and it hasn’t been the best of news for the beloved brand. I am very much an avid J.Crew shopper. I have lived, breathed, and dreamed about their clothes since I was in High School, but the past few seasons I have been less than enthusiastic. I would buy items here and there, but I wasn’t tearing through the Style Guide as much as I used to. Something they are well aware of and have made it known that they are working to bring back J.Crew to its original roots. Well I am SO happy to say that their new fall line is looking like the old J.Crew we know, love, and want back!

When the air starts to get crisps and Fall is on the horizon, I always have a sense of renewal. In the past I have never been much of a Fall person–still to this day Spring is my favorite season– but as I get older the more I start to appreciate this season. The changing color of the leaves is something that is truly beautiful. It feels nice to walk outfit and not sweat immediately from the summer heat. I love eating pumpkin treats and watching Hocus Pocus. But above all what I truly love about the season is the clothes. My Fall wardrobe needs a serious boost. My wardrobe goes from winter to spring to summer and skips the Fall. As an avid fan of the turtleneck, adding a stylish top like this and this is on top of my list. Pulling out my leopard pieces excites me the most about the Fall. A clutch or a pair of flats is the perfect touch of the classic print to any outfit. I just bought this cape and can NOT wait to wear it. I have been dreaming of owning a cape for years and now that I have one I am itching for the weather to get colder so I can wear it outside–instead of sitting on my couch watching TV in it like I am doing now…. Anyway, we can’t forget about Fall accessories like the bootie and a hat, both essentials for this season. And a night out is perfect with this cute romper, which is under $100!
What are you excited for most for the Fall?

As a lover of fashion I am always looking for new designers or brands to swoon over, so when I stumble upon one that each item of clothing is to die for, I instantly have to share it. Lately I have been loving the London-base brand Self Portrait. Designer Han Chong created the contemporary brand in the fall of 2013, but it wasn’t until recently that it caught my eye. What really drew me was how beauty and intricate the detailing of the pieces are. His collections consist mostly of dresses (now you know why I love it) that are feminine, romantic pieces with lots of separates, lace, sheer, and embroidery detailing.  I have been eyeing this and thisdress for a while now. The price is a little steep, but these pieces, I feel, are best worn for special occasions  that will ensure a crowd-stopping entrance. I believe we will see this brand continue to grow and become one of the most well-known brands out there!
