It’s time to celebrate the greatest woman we know, our mothers! Usually for mother’s day we have brunch somewhere and dinner on our patio with the entire family. It is the first get together my parents host of the year outside and really marks the start of summer! I always enjoy shopping for my  mom,  getting her gift like a new pair of earrings or a pearl necklace. Normally she would not spend so much on herself, so getting her a nice bag or pair of shoes is a great way to say thank you for all you have done. Objects for the home like this coffee book and paperweight is always a nice gift to add to your mother’s decor. And of course you have to pamper her with beauty products like this skincare line and makeup palette!

For the past few years I have carried around this coin wallet as my real wallet. I originally bought it to use when I carry smaller purses or when I only want to take a few credit cards and money out for the evening. It was also suppose to be a substitute until I replaced my beat up wallet, but here I am, years later, and haven’t done so. I have to be honest, my wallet is over flowing and I feel completely unorganized. When I check out at a store, it takes me a few minutes to find my credit card because I am going through a stack of cards—what? I shop a lot ok… Anyway, I need a new wallet that is big enough to fit all the pennies I own.

This Saturday is the Kentucky Derby and I can’t tell you how excited I am for it! I LOVE the Derby, it is one of my favorite days of the year. I love the beautiful horses, bright dresses, big hats, and champagne. The excuse to get all dolled up, watch the most exiting two minutes of the year in a sea full of Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines–it’s a preppy girl’s dream come true. The rule of thumb for the attire is the crazier the hat, the more simple the outfit. This and this dress is a great way to keep your attire minimal. I usually opt for a pattern dress, like this and this one, with a simple hat. Whether you are hosting a party or attending an event, make sure you wear something bright and preppy!
