matcha

dress // bracelet // ring

It has been a while since we have had a heart to heart, tell you what has been going on and how I have been feeling.Yes I give life updates during my Friday Simply Smitten series, but mostly it’s what I did, not always how I am feeling. Usually when I chat with friends it’s over drinks, but we do, however, meet for coffee. Since I do not like coffee and much prefer tea, lets talk over a cup of matcha.

Anne of Green Gables

Happy Friday and Labor Day weekend! Last weekend my parents were in town to celebrate my birthday. They flew in Friday afternoon where we spent most of it shopping. That evening we went uptown to The Polo Bar for dinner. Ugh it was so good!! The decor there is quintessential Ralph Lauren; lots of horses, polo decor with dark green walls and brown and tartan furniture. Very beautiful and classic. Saturday we got up early to eat brunch at BEC, then took the ferry over to Governors Island. We spent most of the day at Gov Island, riding bikes, exploring old Revolutionary/ prison forts. We stumbled upon this 1920’s jazz themed party. We watched for a while on the outskirts. They had a band playing 20’s jazz music, along with  dancers performing. Everyone was dressed up in costume and having so much fun. It was lovely to watch for a while. Later that day we went to Carousel the musical. SO GOOD! I haven’t watched the movie since I was little and forgot about the plot. I knew it was about a guy who worked at a carousel and a girl who falls in love with him. He was a bum and had a drinking problem.I also remembered domestic abuse being part of it, but forgot how it ended. During the performance I cried during the second act, but laughed at most of the parts. The dancing was phenomenal! Probably the best choreography I have ever seen on Broadway, and the best dancers. Ricky Ubeda, from So You Think You Can Dance was part of the ensemble. He is an amazing dancer, it was so lovely to see him perform in person.

Handbag c/o

Handbag trends are something that I usually do not pay attention to. Of course there are some trends that I love like the circle bags or the famous ark bag, but for the most part my handbags are classic. This season I started to see a ton of different handbag styles pop up on my instagram, so I decided to search top trends of the fall. Some trends I can do without, like the faux fur, pouch, and saddle bags. Some trends I do like, for instance chain straps, logos, micro bags, pyramid bags, and belt bags. And then a few that caught my eye; box bags, bucket bags, and croc bags. They are nothing new, but more polished, intriguing, and timeless. (more…)

Tibi

lace top // paisley skirt // sandal pumps (similar) // circle bag // round sunglasses

Next week is the beginning of New York Fashion Week and I am ready to take on as much fashion inspiration and craziness! I have shows lined up (still waiting on a few more) and can’t wait to see all of the beautiful clothing walking down the runaway. One of the outfits I plan to wear is this paisley skirt from Tibi. Paisley isn’t always a print I gravitate towards. It can be a hit or miss depending on color. This skirt, however, I immediately fell in love with this coloring. I love the bright colors of the design but the green makes it a fall skirt. Not only is this fashionable for NYFW, it is perfect to wear during the fall season.
