tennis

This past weekend I was riding bikes around the neighborhood with my dad. As we approached the park we saw that the tennis nets were back up and ready for the summer. Do to COVID-19 they were taken down to ensure social distancing. After seeing the nets back up and people playing, I asked my dad if he wanted to get a match in or two before I head back to New York in a few weeks. My dad is pretty good at tennis, played for Wabash in college. I took lessons as a kid but quit because it was too hot… melodramatic even then. Although I quit taking lessons, I continued to enjoy the sport by playing with my dad at the park and at the club or hitting the ball against my parent’s garage (to their patient dislike). And of course, watching the US Open and Wimbledon. A few years ago I took lessons at Midtown Tennis Club with Sam. It was a lot of fun playing again, but I have to admit I am not the best. I hit a lot of moonballs and some even over the roof. Oops! But I improved as the weeks went on. Although I do like to think I am the next Serena Williams.

easter attire

In yesterday’s post, I talked about the importance of still celebrating Easter even though we are currently in a pandemic. Easter is a renewal of hope, faith, and light after darkness. Since we have nowhere else to go for Easter besides from the couch to the dinner table, you may not want to dress up this year for the holiday. However, we have been living in sweats with our hair in scrunchies for the past month that Easter is a great excuse to get dressed up. No, you do not have to get dressed to the nines, but maybe a cute jumpsuit or dress would make you feel put together and chic again. I recently bought this jumpsuit and am planning on wearing it for dinner in my parent’s dining room. Heck, I may even wear it while watching Sunday service via steaming. Here are a few comfortable yet chic options to wear on Easter no matter what you are doing to celebrate.

We had a taste of spring the other day here in New York with 70-degree weather. It felt like heaven walking around with the sun on my face and warmth on my skin. I put me in the best mood, it felt as if I were floating on air. Hopefully, in a few weeks, the weather will nice enough for spring floral dresses. This beautiful wisteria bloom dress caught my eye a few weeks ago and knew it would help me transition into the spring season. With the winter trend of dark florals, a ruffle skirt, and puffy sleeves I can wear it now (with a coat of course) and continue to wear it well into the summer. This is a type of dress for all occasions; rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, events, nights out, etc. It’s casually romantic and ready to be worn blooming into spring.

Happy Friday and Happy Valentine’s Day! Love is in the air and the town is decorated in pink and red hearts. Personally, I love Valentine’s Day; attached or not, I always have. It’s a day to celebrate the love we have for one another. It doesn’t have to be about a significant other, it can include the love we have for our friends, family, and ourselves. It makes me happy to see my friends in love, even strangers who are in love. It makes me happy to give and show love to people. I also enjoy a good RomCom story and I have always been a romantic. For me, it’s a happy holiday.
