There is nothing more beautiful than autumn in New York. The leaves are changing, pumpkins are put out onto everyones stoop, and the air is crisp. It’s the time of the year to bundle up and add an extra layer to our outfits. Lately I have been really gravitating towards wearing blazers. I wear them casually with jeans and professional with a nice dress. I was excited when I saw this blazer from Talbots because of the beautiful pink color. It gives a sunny disposition to naturally gloomy season.

Happy Friday!! This past week my workload has been pretty light. It was odd, as I am used to running around with my head cut off, but it was also so nice. There were moments I felt guilty for not being so busy, but had to remind myself that just because I am not busy does not mean I am not accomplishing anything. After NYFW, it is nice to just spend time with my work and relaxing. The next few weeks looks like I am back to a full schedule, so I am enjoying every minute of this calming period.

blazers

During the fall one of my favorite items to wear is a blazer. No longer just for the office, blazers now express a versatile style. They can be worn over dresses, shorts, skirt, or even as a dress (seen here). They can be casually dressed with sneakers and ripped jeans or an added layer over a turtleneck and black pants. No matter what aesthetic your style is (preppy, grunge, streetwear, feminine), a blazer is always a must have in everyones closet. (more…)

Anne of Green Gables

Happy Friday and Labor Day weekend! Last weekend my parents were in town to celebrate my birthday. They flew in Friday afternoon where we spent most of it shopping. That evening we went uptown to The Polo Bar for dinner. Ugh it was so good!! The decor there is quintessential Ralph Lauren; lots of horses, polo decor with dark green walls and brown and tartan furniture. Very beautiful and classic. Saturday we got up early to eat brunch at BEC, then took the ferry over to Governors Island. We spent most of the day at Gov Island, riding bikes, exploring old Revolutionary/ prison forts. We stumbled upon this 1920’s jazz themed party. We watched for a while on the outskirts. They had a band playing 20’s jazz music, along with  dancers performing. Everyone was dressed up in costume and having so much fun. It was lovely to watch for a while. Later that day we went to Carousel the musical. SO GOOD! I haven’t watched the movie since I was little and forgot about the plot. I knew it was about a guy who worked at a carousel and a girl who falls in love with him. He was a bum and had a drinking problem.I also remembered domestic abuse being part of it, but forgot how it ended. During the performance I cried during the second act, but laughed at most of the parts. The dancing was phenomenal! Probably the best choreography I have ever seen on Broadway, and the best dancers. Ricky Ubeda, from So You Think You Can Dance was part of the ensemble. He is an amazing dancer, it was so lovely to see him perform in person.
