gingham top // gingham pants // sandals (similar) // sunhat // circle bag c/o

A few months ago my mom was in town visiting me. I had an event over the weekend that I took her to; happy to have her experience what I do. Before heading to the event I was having one of those I have nothing to wear moments. My mom, as moms do, swoops in and saves the day by letting me wear her new gingham two-piece set from J.McLaughlin. Yes I am wearing my mother’s clothes to an event, but truthfully I would buy/wear this myself. Gingham is ageless and so are these two pieces.

tennis attire

Now that Wimbledon has come and go and the US Open is just around the corner, I have tennis fever. Last year, after a 25 year hiatus, I took lessons at Midtown Tennis. I was a little rusty at first getting back into the game but now I am confident that I am the next Serena Williams.

Now that I am practically a pro I have been shopping for tennis attire– can’t be a professional without looking cute and on trend. The item I am most coveting is a tennis dress. Comfortable to throw on and easy to move in. I can wear it when I am on the court and when I am off the court running errands pretending I just came from a match. Although this summer my skills have not been put to great use, I am hoping to take lessons again this fall. Until then, shopping for tennis attire will have to satisfy my fever.

“Act in such a manner that you are living proof of a loving God”

Happy Friday! A lot went on this week, but most importantly a lot of self care happened. Last week when I went to the sound bath event at Bando NYC, one of the things Abigail said was to expect a strong surge of emotions. This is because you are releasing whatever is blocked inside you. Unfortunately for me this meant that I was extremely critical of myself. I was angry about everything in life, and then I was angry that I was angry and couldn’t stop. Usually if I am criticizing myself I can take a step back and let it go. This I couldn’t let go. I wanted to be critical, I needed to. In a way I believe this was me releasing negative emotions to make room for healing and more positivity. The things I was saying to myself I didn’t even believe really, I just needed to think it. Luckily for everyone who came in contact with me I was nice to– only mad at myself. This lasted for a little longer than I wanted to. It wasn’t until I attended the Almost30 Podcast event when we received Reiki healing that I finally stopped.  And now am as positive, chipper, and full of love as can be!

summer outfits

Summer is a time for travel, celebrations, concerts, and rooftop drinks with friends. We are out and about during this season which means we tend to shop more for outfits to wear. When we are trying to save for that European vacation we have always dreamed of, buying a new outfit from our favorite designers for each event does not always look good on our finances.  Sometimes a gal needs to put herself on a budget. Finding great items for less than $100 will have your bank account thanking you instead of screaming at you. Here are some of my current favorite summer styles that won’t make you count your pretty pennies for your next vacation.
