Happy 2018!! I am going into the new year with high hopes filled with happiness and love. This past year was wonderful! I grew in my career while hitting major goals of mine. I met a lot of amazing people who some I now call my best friends. I traveled, tried new things, took risks, and had a lot of personal growth. I believe 2017 was a year of shedding off another layer of skin to becoming who I am meant to be while cutting ties with the past and people who are toxic to me. I am walking into this new year with a lot more confidence, control, happiness, and love. I have a feeling 2018 is going to bring me a major life change– a good one, and that I am very much ready for!
As always I make a list of goals and wishes I want to achieve in the upcoming year. Not necessarily a resolution, but a life style. Saturday before I went out to celebrate the ball drop with my friends I wrote down all that I want to achieve, experience, and do in 2018. Here is a little snippet from my dear diary page.
Travel
To top off my 2018 goals and wish list is travel; domestically and internationally. I feel this is the year for me to experience the world. I have been dying to go to Paris for so long I want to make it happen this year. Whether it is for fashion week or just to explore or both, one way or another Paris is on top of my list of places to travel to. My second international destination is London. I want to hang out with the Royals…… ok fine, at least see Buckingham Palace. I have other places around the world that I want to travel to but these two top the list.
Domestically I have a southern tour I am slowly mustering the plans to do. I want to start off in Atlanta visiting my sister, then drive over to Savannah and make my way up to Charleston, Charlotte, then Nashville. I also want to visit Dallas, Boston, and Nantucket this year.
Career
Growing in my career is my number one priority right now. I have a few milestones that I want to achieve. It will take patience, hard work, and lots of creativity but I feel I can accomplish it all. For starters I have a few dream brands that I want to work with in marketing products, styling, and hosting events. Fashion Week is always a list topper when it comes to my goals. I definitely have dream shows that I want to attend. NYFW is a month away so I have already jumpstarted this goal.
Another goal of mine is to incorporate more video into my content. I loved making the Christmas video and want to continue to create more throughout the year. I want to push myself creatively and personally with my content. As much as I love talking about clothes and giving styling tips, I also want to get even more personal with you. I want to up my Insta Stories giving you more insight into my daily routines (more matcha pics and Taylor Swift songs!). I want to connect with you on a more personal level.
I have some analytical goals but I won’t bore you with numbers. I will say that I am trying to hit 50K on Instagram before my 4th year anniversary. I am currently at 45K following.
Relationships
This year I really want to work on being better at keeping in touch with friends. I seem to get so busy that I forget to call my friends or even send a text asking them how they are doing. During the holidays I get to catch up with a few of them, but only seeing my friends once a year with a phone call here and there to catch up is no longer acceptable in my book. I want to know more about what is going on in their lives. I miss my friends, that I know is true. There are a few people from my past that I no longer really talk to because of life just getting in the way and I truly miss them. People from high school, college, after college friends, and NYC friends. I want to reconnect with them.
Fitness and Health
This year I am going back to living a healthier lifestyle. I am a pretty healthy eater and I workout 5-6 times a week, but I also have indulged way more than I used to (I know balance is key and I believe that, but I have tipped the scale a little too far in the indulgence side). I want to get back to clean eating and to cook 4-5 times a week. I am starting the year off with sober January (we will see how long this last ha). Lately I have been feeling sluggish and my skin is doing god knows what, I want to take care of my body.
Last year I started pushing myself to try new exercise studios and loved doing it. I want to continue this as it has been fun seeing what all my body can do. I do not have personal workout goals like lift x amount or run a marathon, I only want to get myself back into shape and to feel healthy again.
Personal
My 2017 goal was to be happy no matter what is happening around me and I think I did a pretty good job. It made my entire year so much better; more fun and filled with love. I want to continue to keep a positive outlook on life. I learned that it is up to me to create my own happiness. I have spent way too much time and energy on people who were just so toxic to me. This year I want to only do things that serve me, that make me happy and be with only people who bring joy and positivity.
This past year I stopped thinking about the past and became more present; knowing that what is meant to be will stay and what is gone was never deserving of me (I finally cut those ties). I started to enjoy the moment, let things flow, and to know what I deserve. I am going to keep this happy mindset of mine while striving to be more assertive in what I want; what I want my future to look like with no apologies. I think I am afraid of admitting what I want in fear of either not getting it or getting it and feeling like I don’t deserve it. This year is about letting life flow, staying happy no matter what, and to be assertive in what I want and what I know I deserve.
Happy New Year!!
