One of my favorite holiday traditions is picking out the perfect tree and spending the evening listening to Christmas music and decorating. When I was little we use to go to a farm that had what seemed like acres and acres of trees. My sister and I would run around trying to find the tallest and fullest one for my dad to chop down. Now that we are older, there is so much to do so little time, we get our tree from the Boy Scouts in a parking lot. We may not have the fun-filled festive day, but we are giving back and ’tis the season to do so.
The weather lately has been relatively nice considering it is December—if I can still wear my Barbour Jacket, then I am more than a-okay with the weather!
Santa gave me these boots last year for Christmas and I refuse to take them off. The color is stunning and I love how clean and classic they look. I wear them during the day or out at night. As much as I have worn them, they have kept in great shape (knock on wood).
Nothing feels cozier and wintery than a huge chunky sweater. I am not lying when I say I wear this sweater almost every day. It probably smells, but I do not care (I wash it regularly I swear!). It is comfy and cozy and oh so wonderful and I love the white cream color of it. I have mentioned before in past posts that I am not a fan of wearing hats, but I have been trying to get out of my clothing comfort zone lately and live a little. With this hat there is no fuss and the cashmere feels so comfortable on. I am so glad I purchased these leather gloves from J.Crew. I never worry about damaging them, as they have kept in great shape through all weather conditions and throwing them around everywhere. They come in many beautiful colors, and I would love the snag a few more.
We had fun getting our tree and I can not wait to decorate it. All of our ornaments are memories from our past. Whether it is our school pictures on a star, places we have been to, or ornaments from my Grandmothers, each one brings a happy memory. After all of the ornaments are placed and the lights are on, my sister and I throw tinsel all over it. We always find ourselves laughing hysterically because I SUCK at it. I don’t know how one can suck at throwing tinsel on a tree, but somehow I have managed to do so. Oh well, makes for a story!
What are some of your holiday traditions? Do you chop down a tree or get a fake one?
