When we want to live a healthy lifestyle, whether we are starting on a new journey or improving one, we are setting goals to achieve it. That goal can be anywhere from cutting sugar cravings to running a marathon. Keeping this idea of the destination is what keeps us motivated to go back to the gym or to say no to that cookie. It is hard, it is challenging, but it is always worth it.
If you have been following my blog for a while you know that I love to workout. I find it not only to be a necessity for body, but to be enjoyable–even when I am in the middle of a hard class and I am wishing for my death. When I first started on my journey to a healthier lifestyle years ago, my goals were to lose weight. After a few years my goals became more about pushing myself to my max, to be in better shape, run a 5k, get through a class without modifying. Now my goal is to find new ways to exercise and to life a healthier lifestyle–clean eating. I am confident with my body and it’s ability, but I want to improve it. I do not want to run the Boston marathon or win the Crossfit games or participate in an ironman race. None of that interest me. What does interest me is to feel and look the best I can. That is my goal.

Ever since going off of gluten and injuring my leg my body has completely changed. I need to reconnect with my body and figure out what it needs in order to stay healthy and fit. My body is one that needs to stay on a consistent plan. I have always struggled with my weight, which easily fluctuates. I can not rely solely on exercise alone, nor can I not exercise and only eat healthy foods to see results. I have to stay on a rigorous exercise and food plan, but with constant change. Yep, it is fun to be me….
My body easily plateaus and right now I am struggling with finding what type of exercise works best to achieve my goals. What worked for me a year ago no longer serves my body–even if I lift heavier weights or run longer. My body needs something new. Right now I am thinking of adding boxing (hello Gigi Hadid body) and pilates to my regime. I have also started the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsiness, but only do the guide on Fridays since I do other types of workouts throughout the week–which I honestly want to give it a true go at it. On top of the BBG guides I bought Tone It Up’s gluten free nutrition plan as BBG does not offer a GF option. I am a pretty healthy eater but it never hurts to have clean eating/healthy recipes on hand.
I began my new goals two weeks ago and am already starting to feel great and see results! If I slip a little it does not matter, my goal does not have a timeline, it is more about getting back to living a lifestyle that I love. To have a healthy relationship with my body.
What are your workout goals?
Enjoyed reading this! I always try to redefine my workout goals as well. I do a lot of boxing classes and love them! It can make the time fly while also being really challenging. I’ve done with BBG workouts but never quite made it all the way through – mostly because I just get a little bit too bored with them. They are all pretty similar, so by week 9 I just wasn’t getting any enjoyment out of them anymore. But I know a lot of other who have really enjoyed them!
I love the color and detail on those leggings. They’re such a refreshing change from the typical black and grey work out pants you usually see!
so sorry about your injury – they truly do change us. whenever i injured my knee and hip it sucked. My run game hasn’t been the same since, BUT I now appreciate the ability to work out when i can, more than i did before. my goal is the same -to feel good and be my best self!
