Happy Friday!! Anyone else feel like this week dragged on? TGIF, for real. In the beginning of the week I was sick. I had an awful sore throat that I was convinced was strep throat that was ultimately going to kill me. After going to the doctor I found out it was just a really bad sore throat. Anyway, I slept most of the beginning of this week trying to feel better…. and still, I thought this week dragged on. Now I am not 100%, but do feel better than I did last weekend.
This past Tuesday I was asked to speak on a panel at The Fashion Institute of Technology about blogging and brand marketing. The panel consisted of Emily from The Lipstick Fever, Christie from Christie Ferrari, Aaron from The Modern Otter, Steven from Steven Onoja, and yours truly! We spoke to individuals, I believe, that are in school for brand marketing. The conversation was so interesting and I learned A LOT from listening to my fellow bloggers. Not surprised though. I am constantly learning from everyone in the blogosphere. We all take a different approach to creating content, working with brands, engaging with readers. It was nice to hear helpful tips that will help me grow and help me connect with you, the reader. My biggest take away from the evening is how us bloggers pick and choose which brands to work with. For me, and the consensus seems to be pretty mutual, it is all about whether or not you would actually buy the product. I want to make this blog as authentic as possible, so why would I — or any blogger/influencer really– promote a brand or product that they themselves do not like. I am so very honored and grateful to have been a part of the evening and to have a chance to talk to people about my passion and what I love to do. I also loved hearing the questions from the audience and to see where they want to learn more about. I know blogging is still a grey area and some may not understand that this truly is a business. I would love to hear any feedback or question you might have about blogging or even about me, my life. I would LOVE to get to know you and hear from you! Email me or DM me on Insta!
Last night I went to an event at M.Gemi hosted by my friend Adriana of Leopard Martini. I own a pair of M.Gemi shoes but have yet to step foot in their cute store in Soho. The place is an Instagram gem, let me tell you! They have pink decor– win. Greenery– win. And a bar– triple win. At all hours of the day they serve coffee. Talk about excellent customer service! I will definitely be back to shop as I saw SOO many cute shoes I want— this and this mostly. It was a lovely evening filled with prosecco, yummy hors d’oeuvres, and meeting new people!
This weekend I have plans to meet up with an old friend of mine for happy hour. He is moving out of NYC next week, so we are getting together to catchup/ say goodbye. Saturday I am having brunch with another friend of mine who I have not seen in a few months. Other than that I am working out, and hopefully frolicking around the city if it is nice!! Fingers crossed!!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend xo
P.S– Are you on Pinterest?! I have been pinning up a storm lately– follow along!
