Summer is the time for taking a good book (or two) with you to the beach or the pool for some much needed relaxation. From fiction or self help books, I am someone who enjoys pleasure reading. Sadly I am not a part of a book club (sigh), luckily I have all of you to share book recommendations with!
The Twilight Wife
A book I could not put down, The Twilight Wife was so addicting to read! The story is about a young marine biologist name Kyra Winthrop who suffers from amnesia after a terrible diving accident. She lives on an island with her husband Jacob, where she tries to put the pieces of her memory of the last few years back together. What Kyra discovers is the shocking truth about her life. This book was thrilling and puzzling. I couldn’t wait to read what was going to happen next, what truth she would discover. I highly recommend this book to take to the beach!
Power Your Happy
I am in the middle of reading Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar, owner of POPSUGAR. Eventhough I am only in the middle of the book, I still recommend reading it to anyone. Whether you own your own business, currently going after your dream job/life or wanting advice on life, this book is for you. Sugar gives advice on her own venture starting POPSUGAR and through her personal experiences. It helps you combine your passions and talents together so your Monday’s are just as exciting as your Friday’s. I really enjoy books like this, learning about how other women start their businesses and how they worked to achieve their goals and land their dream life/job. I always feel so motivated while reading it– I want to conquer the world!
The American Wife
One of my favorite books, The American Wife is about a quiet, smart girl from Wisconsin named Alice Lindgren. As a bookish girl, Alice never dreamed that she would one day meet a charming man whom she would marry, and that one day this man will become the President of the United States. The American Wife is loosely based off of Laura and George W. Bush’s relationship. What I love about this book is you get to see life in the White House from the wife’s prospective; how she deals with not always agreeing with her husband’s political decisions, how she herself changed, dealing with life with privileges, and how she created programs on topics she was passionate about. I highly recommend this book!
