Tis the season to get sick…. ugh, am I right? For the past two weeks I have been feeling like I got hit by a train. Ok, maybe that is a little dramatic, but I felt awful.  It started off with a little throat irritation. I thought, no biggie I will get some throat lozenges and it will go away. Well it got worse and worse and by the end of the week I could barely swallow. I went Urgent Care to get tested for strep throat— negative. She told me it was just a regular sore throat and it will go away in a few days…….

This is the story of the sore throat that wouldn’t quit me.

My throat felt like knives skimmed across it. I kept waiting for a cold to come through– coughing, sneezing, runny nose, high fever, but nothing. No matter what I did my throat would not ease up. I could barely eat solid foods. Cold and hot temperature drinks did not soothe or ease my throat. It was not fun to be me.

As the days went on the more fatigued I became. By the end of last week I was sleeping the majority of the day with little to no energy to do much. I finally took a walk on Saturday because it was warm out and I figured a little sun on my face would be good. By Sunday I couldn’t take to any more, I went back to Urgent Care.

At UC I was tested for mono– negative. The doctor told me that I had fluid built up behind my ears (due to the sore throat), so she put me on antibiotics. She also recommended that I buy Claritin for my other symptoms. I do not have allergies (except for gluten), so it never occurred to me that my symptoms could be allergy related. I don’t know if this means I have developed an allergic reaction to something or my symptoms paralleled allergies. Personally I think I am allergic to work. Within 24 hours of taking Claritin and the antibiotics I felt like a whole new woman. My throat gets a little dry and irritated here and there, but I feel great! Thank goodness. I have also been drinking Health- Ade Kombucha tea and it is god-sent. It actually helped ease my throat a little.

Being sick was not fun and I do not wish this sore throat on anyone, but I did get to binge watch some great shows. Say what you want about 2017, it has given us binge-worthy material.

13 Reasons Why

Big Little Lies

The Handmaid’s Tale

Girlboss

The OA

The days that I wasn’t passed out and had some energy I would give myself a spa treatment or read a book. Those were the best days. No work and all play. I do know that I need some cuter sick day clothes. The kind that you can hang out in, feel comfy but not gross. Mine resemble the train wreck I felt. It was not a pretty sight to see.

Now that I am feeling so much better (thank god!), all I want is to be outside enjoying the warm weather. I think I have stayed indoors enough to last a few months.

Thank you to those who sent me sweet messages when I was feeling sick! I really appreciated it!
