Our second day in Charleston (read first day here), we decided to do some more exploring. I had a list of things to see and today was the day to do it. First we took a carriage ride through the historical homes and The Battery. It was pretty cool to learn about what buildings went through the wars, the detailing of the houses and why they were made that way, and how the town has change throughout the years. I knew Charleston was a historic town, but I had no idea how much history was still left in the streets and homes. Pretty cool to see! The houses are gorgeous and huge, giving me major #goals.

After the carriage ride we walked through the City Market. It has all sorts of goods like homemade baskets, clothing, food, furniture.. you name it, it was there! I made my parents get biscuits from Callie’s Hot Biscuits, which were recommended from of few of you. They looked so good! If I couldn’t have them, I was going to make sure someone did. After walking around the market we stopped and had lunch at Magnolia’s, a cute restaurant close to rainbow row.  My appetite was better, but still felt a little nauseous from eating. After lunch we walked over to the Old Exchange Building where we had a tour of the Provost Dungeon. If you haven’t already you will start to notice a theme of the trip: historical tours. What can I say? We are a family that likes history. The tour was interesting; learning more about Charleston involvement in the Revolutionary war. It’s nothing that I am dying to go back to, and was probably more exciting to my dad.

Finally onto the good stuff! After the tour ended and some not so hilarious dad jokes about locking me in the dungeon, we got in the car and drove around the city. First stop: Sugar Bakeshop. The cutest little shop that has the most amazing baked goods. I got a gluten free chocolate chip cookie……It was so good!! I am going to need them to send me some more…. like right now. Sugar Bakeshop is a little out of the way from the area we were staying in, but worth the short drive.

We decided to save our cookies for dessert later, hopped back into the car and went stalking sight seeing. We passed by Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul and Thomas Ravenel’s houses. Patricia’s home is this huge pink house, again, #goals. I love how colorful the houses are, anywhere else it would look a little off, but in Charleston it is so beautiful. After stalking we went back to The Battery (which is a park) to hang out for a little while and look at the cannon’s that were left from the war up close.

For dinner that night we went to Slightly North of Broad, also known as SNOB. By this time my appetite was almost fully back, thank goodness because the food was delicious! I had the scallops with Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes, highly recommend! After the yummy dinner we headed back to our hotels where I watched a Game of Thrones repeat in my cozy bed while eating my gf cookie!
