I first want to say how completely heartbroken I am and have been praying for the people whose lives were taken, their family and friends, and those who were there Sunday night in Vegas. Here is how we can help!
When I sat down to write this post I had a hard time finding words to write about a dress. It seemed so trivial in the wake of the past few days. There are a million other things I would like to express: my anger, my sadness, my political views. I spent yesterday in a mix of emotions from watching the news to scrolling through social media to reading the political outburst of people on Facebook. By late afternoon I couldn’t bare it any longer and I numbed myself by binge watching Real Housewives. It wasn’t until the evening when I FaceTime my niece that I realized I was wrong in how I spent the day. Instead of getting caught up in learning about why this awful man did what he did or get angry by reading political views, I should be spending the day surrounding myself with love– with the people I love, with the things that I love. Everything that I cherish. In times like these instead of getting angry we should focus on the heroism of people, the love of our family and friends, the happiness of the things in our lives. Focusing on what makes you happy and joyful. Yes this dress is trivial but I love what I do; I love fashion and styling and sharing new trends. I am not saying to disregard what happened or forget about the people who were there and the lives lost; Mourn for them, celebrate their lives, focus on the people who saved their loved ones, send love and prayers to their family and friends. We need to find love and god in situations like these, not focusing on whether or not so and so’s political views are wrong or that (lack of a) man’s history. What we need is to find joy again. So yes talking about a simple black dress does make me happy because I can’t bare anymore sadness.

Just like my emotions, the weather here in New York has been a rollercoaster. One day it is 90 degrees the next day I am wearing a sweater with my Barbour jacket. I always find this time to be a little hard to dress for. It is the fall season yet the weather feels like summer. Wearing summer dresses seems out of place but wearing jeans and a sweater will make you feel like you are a walking steam room. A fall dress is the answer for this. I saw this wrap dress a few months ago and knew it is perfect for the crisp season. I love the balloon sleeves along with the high-low hem. It is flattering and fun to wear! I paired it with sandals but it would look great with booties or pumps. I will definitely be wearing this far into the fall season.
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even watch the news anymore. There’s never anything good on there, so I don’t bother. In other news, that black dress is fabulous on you. Great choice to pair it with heels!
