Happy Friday!! What a fun week it was! First of all, thank God January is over. It honestly felt like an entire year. Congrats to those of you who made it through Whole30 and sober January. I broke my sober January last weekend…. eh close enough right? Anyway, this past week was all about health and fitness with a side of fashion.
Tuesday evening I attended the kick off party for the Blogher’s health and wellness conference taking place on the following day. The event (and the conference) was held at Tribeca 360, a huge event space here in New York. The kick off party was filled with honorees of the conference– women who have paved the way for other women in health, politics, social resistance, etc. It was interesting to hear how and why they started their movements and their journeys. The conference on Wednesday was amazing. It was jam-packed with speakers like Julianne Hough, Jillian Michaels, Kate Walsh, Camila Alves McConaughy, Hannah Bronfman, a few wellness bloggers, motivational speakers, women who work in media, doctors, Olympians, and more. I spent 10 hours listening to each one of them speak about their health issues like endometriosis, migraines, eating disorders, mental health, cancer, post-pardon depression, and more. Going there I was most excited to see Julianne Hough because I want to be her and am a major fan-girl. Also Jillian Michaels because I used to watch her on The Biggest Loser (and is also hilarious by the way). But the biggest takeaway and eye opening I got from a keynote speaker was Ruthie Lindsey. I have never heard of her or her story before the conference but am so glad she was there. If you have a moment read her story (too long to write and would not give it justice). As she was telling her story I started to cry a little, in fact everyone started to get teary eyed. And the thing is, if I never knew her story and met her, I would never have guessed what she has gone through. She is one of the most bubbly, hilarious, full of life people I have ever met. She is a great reminder to live life to the fullest everyday.
The day was long but wonderful. Unfortunately they were running behind schedule so I had to miss the last key note speaker which was Arianna Huffington because I had another event to go to that evening. I left to attend Brooke Shield’s launch of her new clothing line for QVC.It was a small intimate group of press and influencers. The launch was held at The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel. I about dropped dead when I walked in, beautiful! Stunning decor! The QVC event was nice but I was so exhausted from the day that I left early and didn’t listen to Brooke Shield’s speech. At least I got close enough to see her….. the woman does not age.
Are you at the edge of your seat waiting to hear about my eczema update? Well you should be! I went to the dermatologist last week and she gave me a topical cream to put on it. Unfortunately that irritated it more and caused me to break out. However, at the conference Dove was there with their new line for severely dry skin and eczema. In our goodie bags was Dry Repairing Balm that I have been applying since the second I got it. And by the grace of god I swear my eczema (and unfortunate now acne) is finally starting to clear up. It is honestly an over night miracle worker. The irritation and redness of my eczema is gone, it’s starting to fade away and my acne is pretty much cleared. Hallelujah!
I am not sure what my weekend plans are. I am currently feeling a little under the weather and rundown. It’s probably because I have been doing two-a-day workouts, plus the weather is god knows what. So I may take it easy because I do not want to be sick for Fashion Week (starts next week!!). On Sunday (if I am feeling better) will go somewhere to watch Justin Timberlake perform at the Super Bowl. I also have an event tomorrow morning at Bloomingdales. It is a workout event with my friend Lindsay. She is going to kick my tush.
Have a wonderful weekend!! XO
