Happy Friday!! Can we say dream car? It sure is mine! Someday I will have a car just like this ( when I do not live in New York anymore), so I can drive around pretending to be my idol Grace Kelly. I have had a lot of time this week to day dream like I am right now about this 1950’s Mercedes convertible,. This past week was very uneventful, but I did not mind the relaxation and time off.

At the end of last week I started to develop plantar fasciitis in my left foot. If you have had it before you know how painful it gets, and if you haven’t had it before lucky you. It’s an intense inflammation of the tissue that connects the bottom of your foot to your heel. This isn’t my first rodeo with PT. I have had it off and on in both feet since college. It’s very common in dancers and runners. The first time I had it I was on crutches for two weeks— one time I was walking in the snow when I slipped and a homeless man laughed and called me Tiny Tim.  Anyway, after my workout on Friday morning my foot was starting to feel inflamed. I knew it was plantar fasciitis slowly developing, but I didn’t care. That evening I had Body by Simone’s advanced dance cardio class (hip hop theme) and I was not going to miss it. I wanted to dance. After the class I could barely walk home (worth it), I immediately iced it. I should of have stayed off of it for the next few days but I did not. Saturday I “tried” to modify my workout and of course wore heels Saturday night (and didn’t think twice about stomping my feet to country music). Sunday afternoon was my friends, Sarah and Natalie from City Fit Life’s, workout event at Project by Equinox. There was no way I was going to miss this and I was not going to modify my movements. I wanted to dance and I wanted to dance full out. Unfortunately this meant by Monday I could barely walk. I cancelled all of my events, meetings, and workouts for the entire week and have been laying on the couch icing my foot.  My foot feels a lot better but I can’t walk too far and can only wear sneakers. The only activity I did was a photoshoot Tuesday morning. I couldn’t cancelled that as I was shooting for a project.

Not working out all week and skipping out on events gave me a lot of time to get my work down early so I could do others things I enjoy like listening to podcasts, reading, studying subjects I enjoy, talking to my mom longer on the phone, etc. Usually I would freak out if I was not working out, but I have to listen to my body (with my foot and shoulder both being inflamed, I think my body is telling me to take a break). As I said this isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last, that I have had plantar fasciitis. I know what to do and how to take care of it. I am going to CryoEmpire for some cryotherapy, and lots of rest and staying off of it. I do need to be careful because it could result in a stress fracture, but I know my body well enough to ease back and when to push forward with my injuries. As a dancer I am taught to work through injuries— the show must go on. Professional dancers will dance on sprained ankles and broken toes just so they won’t lose their spot in the company. Obviously I am not a Paul Taylor or American Ballet Theatre dancer, and I am not (unfortunately and sadly) on Broadway, but I do a ton of dance cardio on floors that are not the best for you. I have been jumping on my feet since I was 3 years old in pointe shoes, barefoot, tapping in heels, and now I am old and jumping in sneakers that quickly wear out. I got PT last November and I knew it was time to get new sneakers…. I guess I need another pair. I am eager to get back as I miss dancing and all of my dance cardio classes!

Besides my inflamed foot my rosacea has completely clear (I am apparently on fire with my foot and face… can’t say I live a boring life). I am still only using Cetaphil products and am slowly incorporating Beauty Counter back into my regime. And speaking of Beauty Counter, apparently I was on The Today Show this morning for a Beauty Counter segment. A few months ago I attended the BC conference here in New York and they snapped a picture of me putting on lipstick. It’s funny because that was the ONLY thing I did there. I was so exhausted from holiday events that I didn’t have the energy to do much. I tried on the lipstick then sat in a corner eating tapas waiting for the founder to speak. Thank God they did not capture that.

I am emerging myself back into society today with a meeting this morning with Affiner— exciting things to come with that! Also another private training session with TroupeFit. Tomorrow I have an event with Marie Claire that I am very much looking forward to. Sunday I am attending an Oscars party at Elena’s from A New York Love Affair. I have seen most of the Best Picture nominees except for Shape of Water (have no desire to see), Lady Bird (will watch tonight), The Darkest Hour and Phantom Thread will also watch sometime this weekend. The rest I have seen and enjoyed. Honestly, I am more excited about what the celebrities are going to wear since they are not wearing all black this time! Other then that my only plans are to relax and FaceTime my niece. During each of our FaceTime sessions we spend a good 5 minutes making faces at each other or yelling at each other. Yelling in a good humor– I’ll scream/yell and she will match it, then I’d match her scream/yell. Apparently my humor is of a 1 year old. Whatever, she laughs and kisses the screen (me) so it’s worth it.

Have a wonderful weekend! XO
