“you are the art the world wants to see”

– Seeker

Happy Friday!! It is starting to really feel like spring here and it is suppose to be around 70 degrees this weekend! I’ve been trying to spend as much time outside as possible. My dad is arriving today to visit for the weekend and to help me move my stuff. My roommate is moving out and I am taking over her room. I didn’t want to hire someone to move me a few feet away but also can’t move my dresser alone. I am so excited he is going to be here and it will just be the two of us. For as long as I have lived in New York my dad has never visited me without my mom or sister present. Since my move won’t take that long we have a long weekend of exploring the city and spending time together.

I really wanted to take him to a Yankee’s game but unfortunately they are not in town. I know we will go to the 911 Memorial and the driving range at Chelsea Piers, but mostly we are going to play the weekend by ear. I’ve thought about going to a speakeasy or take him to McSorley’s (the oldest bar in Manhattan), since he is into history I figure he would enjoy one or the other.

This past week I spent most of it working out (check out my favorite workouts here) and attending a few events. Wednesday night I went to the W Hotel downtown to attend a Dior make-up masterclass. I am by far the last person to give makeup tutorials– I only wear mascara, blush, sometimes lipstick, and of course cover up. The tutorial was interesting and I learned a lot. For instance it’s a new thing to instead of using eyeliner on your top eyelid you put it at the bottom of your eyelid (underneath your lashes). Sorta freaks me out a little, have yet to test it out, but am told it makes your eyes pop more. Besides learning makeup tips I went to the American Express Experience. You walked through different exhibits. First room was decorated like the Caribbean where it was filled with palm trees and sand. The second room was a futuristic restaurant. They had the food already prepped into square shelves in the wall. You picked whatever you wanted and it was automatically replenished. Pretty cool idea! I took a smoothie drink– it was not that good ha. The 3rd room you had a chance to get your picture taken. I opted out of that room as I didn’t feel like getting my picture taken and I had just finished an hour photoshoot. The final room and my favorite was filled with puppies!! You were in a playpen and got to pet, play, hug, kiss about 5 different puppies. The puppies were from the North Shore Animal League American– gahh they were the cutest! I wanted to take one home with me. One of the puppies gave me a kiss and I completely melted. I never wanted to leave! It brought me so much happiness. I think we should all have a puppy playdate break everyday!

Have a wonderful weekend xo
