During the warm, sunny season I get a little bit more adventurous with my wardrobe. I have a more fun with my style than I do in the winter time. I love wearing bright colors, mixing patterns and prints, and leaning towards feminine aesthetics.

One of the ways I am playing around with my style this season is wearing characteristics of the Victorian era. A modern Victorian style if you prefer. Victorian-inspired clothing has never gone away since it was first introduced during Queen Victoria’s reign. It was the first time women were the focal point in fashion. The style was delicate drama. There were low ruffle necklines that exposed the shoulder, singed waistlines, intricate detailing of garments like lace or eyelet and so forth. Designers today from Chanel to Rebecca Taylor and even J.Crew have designed clothing that was inspired from the Victorian-era.

Rebecca Taylor, one of my favorite brands, does a wonderful take on modern Victorian. My floral off the shoulder top and eyelet skirt are from Rebecca Taylor. They work beautifully together with an interesting mix of design, and they work separately with a more minimalist pairing. Pieces like these that are versatile are worth buying as you get more use out of them. You can play around with styling to tailor to your aesthetics that is not modern Victorian. For me, I will stick with flared details and mixing of design.
