Last Sunday I spent most of the afternoon laying out in the park near me and reading my current book. It felt so nice and relaxing to do so as I haven’t done this in quite a while. As someone who enjoys pleasure reading I have to admit I haven’t been indulging in books as much as I used to. But since my current book is coming to an end I am on the lookout for a new one to submerge myself in. Here are a few books that are currently on my radar.

Influencer Building Your Personal Brand In The Age Of Social Media

Last week I had the pleasure of listening to Brittany Hennessy speak at the Chloé Digital World Tour. Brittany is the Head of Influencer Marketing for Hearst Digital Media. Brittany spoke about monetizing our work, how to negotiate contracts, how to pitch brands, etc. There are a lot of books out there about blogging, but most are about how to start a blog, not what to do while you have been blogging for a while. As the person who oversees every campaign coming through Hearst that works with influencers, Brittany is giving tips and advice coming from a brand perceptive. I think anyone who is an influencer at any stage will benefit from this book. I have already pre-ordered it and can not wait to start reading and learn more about blogging.

The Nightingale Novel

The Nightingale takes place in France in 1939 where a young woman named Vianne deals with the recent Nazi invasion of her village. While Vianne is a prisoner of her own home, her sister Isabelle is fighting with the Resistance. What intrigues me about this book is that it’s coming from women’s prospective of World War ll and what they had to face during this difficult time. It’s time period which I love to read about and know I would enjoy. The book is going to be made into a movie with the release date sometime next year.

Looking For Alaska

I am a big fan of John Green’s YA books. The Fault In Our Stars was such an amazing story that I couldn’t put the book down. I have a feeling Looking For Alaska will give me the same ‘have to know what happens’ feeling. It’s about a boy named Miles who leaves for boarding school where he falls in love with problematic Alaska. It’s about how one person can completely change the life of someone else. About facing difficulties and learning to move on. There are rumors this book will also be made into a movie, but haven’t heard when the release date will be. It’s also one of 21st centuries most banned books…. that is intriguing enough to read it.
