Lately I have been tearing through the pages of books. All I want to do is cancel my schedule for the rest of the week and read, get lost in a good story. This past year I have neglected pleasure reading. Normally I go from book to book, but this year it has taken me longer to finish one. I only have myself to blame, well that and Netflix. I decided to make a promise to myself that my free time (and especially on Sundays) are for reading and not re-watching TV shows I have seen a thousand times. If I had to choose one genre of books it will probably be love stories. I am a sucker for hopeless romantic, drama-filled, rom-coms and happy endings type of books. I also love self-help books as well. It’s good to push yourself to be a better person, learn something new whether it’s for your career, health, or just life in general. It never hurts to keep evolving and growing. Here are a few books I have on my reading list, one which I am currently devouring.
Making It In Manhattan
It is only fitting that I share Making It In Manhattan with you because the book launches TODAY!! My friend Caroline Vazzana is a real life Carrie Bradshaw meets The Devil Wears Prada. Seriously she is fabulous, has THE BEST style, and is the sweetest! After years of working in the fashion industry and now as a influencer, Caroline is giving tips and advice on how to make it not only in fashion but also in Manhattan. I have already purchased a copy and can NOT WAIT to read about Caroline’s journey. Tonight I am attending her book launch party. She has been working on this book since 2015; I am SO proud of her and can’t wait to celebrate her success. A much deserve success! This book is for anyone dreaming of working in fashion and living in New York City!
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
If you have been following my Instagram Stories the past few days then you know I am obsessed with the Netflix rom-com To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I loved it so much that I went out yesterday and bought the book. Now I am more than halfway through it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series (it’s a trilogy). To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is about a teenage girl named Lara Jean who is dreamy-eyed and quiet. Throughout her life she has written her crushes love letters, only for her to see. One day the letters somehow get out and Lara Jean’s world starts to completely change. I love everything about this book (I now want someone to write me love letters). All of the characters are lovable and the story is relatable. I can really relate to Lara Jean in how she feels about relationships and life.; sometimes feeling invisible, dreaming of romance but afraid of getting hurt. It’s funny, cute, and takes you back to what it’s like to be young and in love.
Still Me
The third and final book of the Me Before You series. SPOILERS AHEAD! If you haven’t read the first two– Me Before You, and After You, then I suggest not reading the rest of the synopsis. It will ruin the end of the second book. With that being said, Still Me is about Louisa Clark’s journey in New York City. She is thrown into high society and learning life in an entirely new country while still trying to hold onto her life back at home in London. I recently read the 2nd book of the trilogy and can’t wait to see what Louisa is up to, if a certain romance of hers survives the long distance, and see how the series ends!
