“Have hope and believe in yourself, because it’s possible”

-Hailie Sahar

Happy Friday!! It was a week of fun and a week of learning. After a few weeks off from events, it seems everyone is back from vacation and gearing up for the fall season. I can’t believe we are talking about the fall already, but it is quickly approaching. And so is my birthday!!!

This past week I attended a lot of fun events and workshops. Tuesday morning I went to Bandier for the Naturally Serious presentation. Naturally Serious is an all natural skincare company that is sold exclusively at Sephora. During the presentation we got to test out the different products;  all feel silky smooth, none sticky or heavy and blends nicely into the skin. I have been using the Zero-Baggage Anti-Dark Circle Eye Cream this week and have seen and felt my under eyes perk up a little. That evening I went to the Instyle Summer Social Event at The Beekman Hotel. You must visit The Beekman Hotel, the 132 year old building holds a lot of history and is so beautiful. Anyway, the Instyle event was lots of fun and it was so nice to see some of my friends who I haven’t seen in a while due to traveling and summer busyness.

Wednesday morning it was Christmas in August with the Lauren by Ralph Lauren’s Holiday preview; lots of tartan, gold detailing, and velvet. I am excited for their classic holiday collection coming this winter! Wednesday night I went to the Fohr (formally known as Fohr Card) offices in Soho for the State of Influence talk done by James Nord, CEO. For those of you who do not know, Fohr is an agency that bloggers use that connects brands with influencers for campaigns.  Fohr holds lectures every once in a while that talk about anything and everything having to do with blogging. This lecture was about where influencers are heading and how to stand out.  For those of you who think this (blogging) is going away in a few years or not a real job, there are studies and statics that will prove you wrong. 90% of customers trust influencers when buying products. Brands that use influencers have a better net year than brands that do not. Netflix is doing better than cable and newspapers and magazine are plummeting. Just to give you an insight into what is happening in the the advertising world.

To add onto my learning experience, Thursday morning I went to the Facebook HQ for their Instagram Master Class series (which I will be attending for the next few weeks). This class was about Instagram’s newest feature IGTV. You may have heard of it, and you have definitely seen it pop up unexpectedly, but may not quite understand it. To be honest I have yet to view anyones IGTV, but am still curious about how it will change the future of social media. IGTV is a 10-15min max video that anyone can create. The class was about how to create a video, the best practices for it, what Instagram’s analysis have already shown on people who have done IGTV, and so on. It was SO cool to be at FB HQ and to learn from the horse’s mouth on how to use a feature. I do not think IGTV will take over in popularity of Youtube, but I think it could hold some significant value for companies. But then again James Nord said it’s irrelevant…. ’tis to their own I guess.

I went to the Insta Class with Emily, from Empire Style of Mind, after class we headed to midtown for a quick lunch at Blank Slate Tea. After lunch we got a private tour of the Rosé Mansion. The Rosé Mansion is a new “fun-house” installation that has several rooms filled with Instagram worthy things to do like swing on a chandelier, jump in a pool of balls, drink like the Romans do, create your own rosé, and more. It also has a lot of history about rosé in different parts of the world and the science behind making it.  Emily and I spent about an hour touring each room and taking pictures. It was nice to be in the Mansion alone and really taking in what was surrounding us and creating great content. After our photo session the house opened and we joined a tour group and drank all of the rosé that was offered. I had a BLAST!! The Mansion is opened until October, so you have plenty of time to visit!

Today I am taking it easy since tomorrow will be a long but fun day. I am attending the Victory Cup at Governor’s Island. It will be a jam packed day of polo matches. I will be in the Golden Mallet tent for those of you who are also attending and want to say hello! Since tomorrow will be a big day (please do not rain!)  today I am planning on getting my nails done, working out, working on NYFW stuff, and catching up on Sharp Objects. Have you watched the HBO series? It is SO GOOD! I am obsessed! I think I know who the killer is, but there are so many unanswered questions and mysterious that keep me coming back. I could also be wrong about the killer, but some evidence and circumstances points to only one person. We will see!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend xo
