Happy Friday and Labor Day weekend! Last weekend my parents were in town to celebrate my birthday. They flew in Friday afternoon where we spent most of it shopping. That evening we went uptown to The Polo Bar for dinner. Ugh it was so good!! The decor there is quintessential Ralph Lauren; lots of horses, polo decor with dark green walls and brown and tartan furniture. Very beautiful and classic. Saturday we got up early to eat brunch at BEC, then took the ferry over to Governors Island. We spent most of the day at Gov Island, riding bikes, exploring old Revolutionary/ prison forts. We stumbled upon this 1920’s jazz themed party. We watched for a while on the outskirts. They had a band playing 20’s jazz music, along with dancers performing. Everyone was dressed up in costume and having so much fun. It was lovely to watch for a while. Later that day we went to Carousel the musical. SO GOOD! I haven’t watched the movie since I was little and forgot about the plot. I knew it was about a guy who worked at a carousel and a girl who falls in love with him. He was a bum and had a drinking problem.I also remembered domestic abuse being part of it, but forgot how it ended. During the performance I cried during the second act, but laughed at most of the parts. The dancing was phenomenal! Probably the best choreography I have ever seen on Broadway, and the best dancers. Ricky Ubeda, from So You Think You Can Dance was part of the ensemble. He is an amazing dancer, it was so lovely to see him perform in person.
The rest of my week has been about gearing up for NYFW and learning the ropes of my new job. I can tell I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious about everything being thrown at me. I need to remind myself to take it one day at time. Once fashion week is over I will have more availability to really dig into my new job. I have had a few training sessions this past week and have already scouted a few apartments, and have inquiries. It’s a good start so far!
Monday night I attended the Victoria’s Secret party showcasing their new launch collaboration with Taylor Hill. It was a nice party! Taylor Hill was there– she is really pretty in person. I only stayed at the event for about an hour, then headed uptown to the Refinery Rooftop for My Life Out Oo Office’s Luau party. They had tropical drinks, a limbo challenge, and leis for everyone to wear. To be honest it was a little wild for a Monday night for me, but I still had a blast. Tuesday I had a Soul Cycle event with Making It In Manhattan, my friend Caroline’s new book. I haven’t been to Soul Cycle in a while, it was nice to be back on the bike.
Wednesday I had a photoshoot that I was basically dying from the heat. Pretty sure my hair is going to look like I stepped out of the shower. In fact I don’t think I have stopped sweating glistening this entire week, especially on Wednesday. That evening I went with a few friends to the US OPEN. It was a pinch me moment! We watched Serena Williams dominate the court in 2 sets. And we watched it in the Arthur Ash Stadium!!! It was SO cool!! As you may know I am a big tennis fan, so I am still on a high from that night!
Yesterday I had another photoshoot that I looked as if I just went swimming, and spent the rest of the day working. This weekend, unfortunately, I am not going anywhere special. I am spending this weekend working; showing apartments, working on my blog, and getting ready for NFYW. I wanted to take this weekend to some what relax before the next two weeks are crazy. Think of me when you are vacationing somewhere fabulous.
Have a wonderful weekend!! xo

Sounds like you had a great birthday week with your parents! And I’m gearing up for NYFW too – Im so excited!!
The fact that you got to see Ricky dance live makes me SO jealous. I’m a massive SYTYCD junkie and he was always one of my favorites! So cool! And I feel you on the heat and humidity – it sucks like crazy, especially during photoshoots. My curls never stay curled anymore haha!
I loved gearing up for NYFW, it’s such a fun time. I am so glad you had a great birthday week!
Hope you enjoyed your relaxing weekend! I stayed home too, sometimes you just need a weekend to do absolutely nothing.
