valentine's day

As stores are starting to put out their candy hearts and long stem roses with the approach of Valentine’s Day, I have been thinking about all of the pick up lines I have endured over the years. Some made me laugh; like the time I was in Florida on vacation with my parents during high school and some guy walked up to me saying I dropped my name tag– which was a sugar packet. I laughed, my dad said what an idiot. Some pick up lines have made me feel uncomfortable; recently a guy was trying to hit on me by saying I looked wild– that I look as if I stand up on bars yelling shots and that I like to have a really good time. Yeeaaah, you are definitely barking up the wrong tree. I rolled my eyes and walked away. Or my favorite pick up line ever said to me; a drunk guy stumbled up to me at a bar with no prior engagement between us and said “why are all the really beautiful girls bitches?” Followed by “you must be a bitch because you are so beautiful.” I still laugh when I think about it….. I guess I have to give him points for making me laugh. Of course the pick up lines that do work are the friendly ones; “Hey, my name is….”. Simple and normal my friends… simple and normal.

If you are one of the lucky ones that no longer have to endure pick up lines and have a special someone to spend Valentine’s Day with, you may be starting to think about what you want to wear. If it’s your first Valentine’s Day and the two of you are keeping plans casual, a simple blouse paired with jeans will do. If your plans include a restaurant or maybe a Broadway play, wear a nice dress or a satin skirt. If you are heading straight from work to your date, wear this dress that is both professional yet fashionable. If you are cooking dinner at home with your loved one or going to the movies, a cute pink sweater will still keep you in a festive mood. Of course your Valentine’s Day attire does not have to be pink and red with hearts, it can be a black dress or a satin blazer. Whatever you feel comfortable in.

I am not sure what I am going to do for Valentine’s Day. I know that it is during NYFW so may have to postpone plans. But I am sure it will just be dinner and drinks somewhere. Still have time to make plans….. and plan my outfit.
