“may flowers grow in the saddest parts of you”

-Zainab Aamir

Happy Friday!! Hope you are staying warm. It’s sad when I find today, being 18 degrees, warmer than yesterday which was about 9 degrees. So ready for summer! We haven’t had that much snow compared to other parts of the country. I am looking forward to at least a day or two of snow. But that is it. My legs are permanently pink, and it ain’t pretty looking.

My hibernation has been interrupted with friends in town and lots of events. Last weekend I had a friend from San Diego in town for a girls trip. I met up with her and her friends Sunday for brunch at Sarabeth’s uptown, then we walked around Central Park. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. Everyone seemed to be taking advantage of the day as well. It was so nice to see her and to catch up.

Wednesday evening was one of those nights when every brand and agency decides to host an event. You are running around the city trying to get to a million events within two hours. It’s hectic! I decided to only go to two events that night. The first one was Soap and Glory. They held the event at Duane Park which is a burlesque and jazz club. You can host an event, host a birthday party, or attend one of their dinners and watch a show. The theme of the night was, of course, the ’20s. They had a tub filled with products, a champagne sink– yes champagne came out of the sink (need one of those), and women dressed up like flappers. Then they had a short aerial hoop dance that was really cool! New career goal? I’ve done aerial yoga before but would love to try the hoop, just to see if I can do it.

After Soap and Glory I went over to Chelsea to Lady Gaga’s old townhouse (take a tour of it here) It was hosted by Rose Box and 3D PR and Marketing Agency. The townhouse, or mansion as the invitation says, is incredible. The 2nd floor has a theater room, huge kitchen with an inclosed patio porch, a large living room with an electric fireplace. The basement has an indoor pool, workout/yoga room, wine cellar, sauna, and a lounge area. Then you can take either the stairs or elevator to the 3rd floor which is the dinning area and a guest bedroom. The 4th and 5th floors were closed off to us because people are actually living there. The event was fun with a mix of people, which makes events more interesting than seeing the same girls. I love my blogging friends but it’s nice to have a change of scenery and new people to talk to. My friend and I were talking to an artist for a while as he was explaining some of the paintings in the apartment and the ones he creates. It was a nice evening and the place is amazing. The townhouse makes my tiny 3 bedroom apartment look even more like a closet.  What does a girl have to do to get a place like that… become a pop star or something? ugh.

Last night I attended the Klarna #SmooothSessions event. Klarna is a new method of paying that some brands (like Storets) are doing. Basically it’s a split pay method. Instead of paying full price right away you split the price with 4 payments equally. Each week or two the payment will automatically be deducted from your account. Lets say you really wanted a new dress but also have to pay your rent and can’t afford full price right away for the dress, use Klarna and pay in increments. Last night there was a cocktail hour followed by a panel discussion featuring Sebastian Siemiatkowski from Klarna, Arthur Zaczkiewicz from WWD, Allissa LaScala from Daniel Wellington, Huston Conti from @shoesof, Ashley Sandall from CFDA, and Paul Masters from In The Style. The discussion was based around the growth of technology and fashion. How brands are utilizing technology not only through e-commerce but through better understanding their customers uniqueness. For instance they talked about Nike and adidas using technology to better understand how we move differently based on our individual bodies and our environment. New Yorkers run differently than those in Texas. They also talked about the use of influencers and how it can help the growth of a company. And of course they discussed the brick and mortar vs. e-commerce debate. I agreed with Sandall when she said that brick and mortar shouldn’t go away completely (even companies who have started out as online only have turned to brick and mortar), that companies should open less stores but do it smarter. I do not see brick and mortar ever going away, I believe we will come to a turnaround in society where we will crave human interaction and will demand it from brands. It’s smart of brands to be utilizing both personal communication through stores and efficiency through e-commerce. The evening was fun and interesting and I am so glad I was able to attend!

This weekend I have an event with City Fit Life and Paragon Sports. We will first be taking a class from Natalie and Sarah of CFL, then sports bra fittings with Anita Active, Brooks Running, and more. All while doing other fun stuff like a glam bar and stretch station. I can’t wait! It is going to be lots of fun! Besides working out and getting pampered I am attending a Super Bowl party… go team! I am also planning on seeing another nominated movie, probably Green Book. And staying warm inside!

Have a wonderful weekend! xo
