“I will not allow myself to not feel chosen every single day”

-Hannah B.

Happy Friday! The weather has been wonderful these past few days. Feels like spring is truly upon us! This has been a week full of fun. As I have mentioned before during the winter time things are pretty slow for blogging. Besides fashion week, there are not many events happening. As we near spring more and more brands will start hosting events that will make me yearn for simpler times.  I can’t complain, I love what I do.

Wednesday morning I went over to the Eileen Fisher’s showroom to view their fall ’19 collection. For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, they sell basic, sustainable clothing items; no bells or whistles, just solid colors that you can mix and match with any outfits. I knew Eileen Fisher was a sustainable brand but I had no idea she is pretty much in the forefront of the movement. You can return your Eileen Fisher items to any of their stores and they recycle the material into pillows, rugs, clothing, artworks, etc all through their Waste No More program. Eileen even took a hit out of her own paycheck to help transform a family’s farm in Mexico into an organic cotton farm. The couple was expecting a baby at the time and they didn’t want to raise her/him on a farm that uses pesticides. The man had grown up on the farm and now has Parkinson’s disease from being exposed to chemicals. Eileen helped them transform the farm and now employs them as the company’s cotton farm. I have so much respect for her and the company for doing their part to change the world. As Eileen said “you can’t make clothes on a dead planet.”

Thursday was filled with event after event and I had a blast. I started the morning at the Lilly Pulitzer x Pottery Barn kick off party. Lilly knows how to throw a great event! They had pineapple bowling (the pins were spray painted pineapples), hair braiding, professional painters and a coloring wall, photo booths, and a refreshingly delicious juice stand. All of the furniture looks amazing– I especially want this ottoman in well connected tide blue. There is patio furniture, throw blankets and pillows, bedding, PB baby and PB kids, and more.  After the collection pre-launch party (collection launched today!), I went over to the Oculus to the new Venus ET Fleur shop. I have a few of their arrangements that have lasted for over a year. Using real roses they preserve them somehow (should probably learn how). Anyway, the store is beautiful–how can you not love being surrounded by flowers. They were kind enough to gift me an arrangement to take home.

Last night I attended the grand opening of Hudson Yards. The largest development in US History. The 5 floor mall was massively big with most of my favorite brands and finally a Neiman Marcus in the city!! Hudson Yards is located off of 10th avenue between 30th and 34th Street. The area holds offices, restaurants, a mall, hotel, public garden, The Shed (a new arts center), and The Vessel as an observation deck. The invite only party was held in the mall and it was wild. There were over 15K people there and the food and drinks were endless. The massive crowd was made up of industry folks and clients, influencers, celebrities, and the people who live in Hudson Yards area. There was endless entertainment from DJ’s to ballerinas to drum lines and marching bands to A cappella groups to street dancers. Everywhere you turned there was something going on in each store or floor. There were plenty of times I had no idea where I was, we just aimlessly walked around. The mall is spectacular and I highly suggest going there. It makes me almost want to move in the area. Almost. For the longest time the west side from 30th-60th, but especially in the 30’s, was just seedy. It was a place filled with cheap jewelry and knock offs. The tunnel is there so the traffic is terrible and there is nothing to do. Even the subway lines are not the best. The closet one is Penn Station but that is still a hike for some areas. It was just dead mans land. Now that they turned it into Hudson Yards the area is making a name for itself and a sought after area to move to. Never say never in New York, but as much as I love Hudson Yards I prefer other areas of the city.

Today I have a yoga class with TULA Skincare at Humming Puppy. First there will be a fireside chat with TULA Founder, Dr. Roshini and Tejal Patel of Humming Puppy, then we will take the yoga class. Should be a nice relaxing day. This weekend I have a photoshoot with Olive and Bette’s and a catch up with a friend over matcha. Other than the photoshoot, I will be studying to get my real estate license. I am taking a 75 hour course before taking the exam, so will be spending most of my time and weekend doing the course. I am still doing my blog full time as well as real estate and the other odd jobs/freelance work I do. It’s funny that this came along, me taking the course, as I was recently yearning to learn something new but was unsure of what to do or what to learn. Then out of no where this happened. I guess I manifested it.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xo
