As the weather slowing changes, the sun comes out to warm our bodies, and the birds migrate back North, we know that spring is in the air. Although spring has officially started last week it doesn’t always feel that way. I am still wearing my puffer coat and oversized sweaters. I am yearning for the days to come where I can wear pretty dresses. Easter is usually when I start wearing spring-like dresses with floral prints or bright colors. It’s a day of rebirth, the end of the cold season and the beginning of life for nature to grow back. Easter is one of my favorite holidays; cute bunny and baby chicks decor, pastel outfits, church, Easter egg hunts, and the best holiday candy ever. And I will fight you on the candy part! Best holiday candy all year; mini Cadbury eggs and Reese’s peanut butter cups… what more can a girl ask for?
Anyway, dressing up for Easter is a family tradition. In the morning we have an Easter egg hunt before opening our Easter baskets. After the hunt we eat breakfast then head off to church. In the afternoon we used to go to my grandmothers house for another egg hunt, but since we are older we no longer do it. Now we relax, watch movies (usually plead with my dad to not watch John Wayne movies) and wait for our guests to arrive for dinner.
When I was little my grandmother used to make our Easter dresses. We would go to the fabric store with her and pick out a pattern. We go over to her house once a week for fittings until the big day. Our outfits were straight 80’s/90’s; puffy sleeves, white gloves and a hat. Pretty embarrassing, yet amazing at the same time. Now I buy a new dress to wear on Easter. Here are a few Easter dresses that are currently on my list.
