Happy Friday!! We are on the cusp of a great weekend with The Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, and The Met Gala all happening in the next few days. I am excited for all three occasions to occur and am looking forward to a fun weekend.
This past week, however, was somewhat boring; mostly spent it in front of the computer and on calls. I felt really exhausted in the beginning of the week, like I didn’t have the energy to be motivated. I blame it on the emotional rollercoaster of watching Game of Thrones. IT WAS SO GOOD! I could barely sit down during it– completely convinced that most of the beloved characters were going to die. I really have no idea what is going to happen in the next few episodes, but I can’t wait. Bow down to Arya Shark, the greatest of all time.
Anyway, beside being a total nerd for GOT I did a double workout Monday and it basically wiped me out. Monday morning I went to Dancebody’s full out class. I almost have all of the dances figured out, there are only two that I am having trouble with. I do have two more months to figure them out until a whole new set of dances are introduced. That night I went to The Rickey Sister’s class at the new Energy studio (which is beautiful by the way!). We learned a fun hip-hop dance that hopefully you saw on Insta Stories. I love dancing with the Rickey Sisters. They have great energy and their dances are fun to do!
Tuesday afternoon I went downtown to the Paper Source in Tribeca for an event with Elizabeth Arden. They were introducing their new line of perfume called White Tea. At the event we made our own flower arrangement courtesy of Fox Fodder Farms while sipping on mimosas and a charcuterie board. It was a lovely event, and I am always up for creating floral arrangements. My aunt and cousin used to own a flower shop a few years ago in Columbus. During my breaks in college and a little after college I would work there as an assistant. It is enjoyable to now use my learned skills and talent during events centered around floral arrangements.
Wednesday and Thursday were mostly admin days. The only time I left my apartment was to workout or to go to the grocery store. I worked out at Y7 yoga and it was Hip- Hop Wednesday. They were playing Lizzo’s new album, which I am loving! The song “Truth Hurts” is on repeat, I can’t stop listening to it.
This morning I had a photoshoot in Dumbo. My photographer Lauren and I decided to take a mini break and go on Jane’s Carousel. It was so fun! I felt like a kid/ Mary Poppins! Not a bad way to start the weekend. As mentioned, this is an exciting weekend! I am going to a Cinco de Mayo party tomorrow afternoon and will hopefully be able to watch the Derby. I haven’t been to a Derby party in a few years and am wishing I was going to one this weekend. I love nothing more than to wear a pastel dress with a wide brim hat while watching horses race. I love the Derby! Cinco de Mayo will be fun too as I do love Mexican food and margs. Then we have the Met Gala on Monday, which I am going to watch from the comfort of my home– not cool enough to get invited… like ever. I am very curious as to what people are going to wear and how they are going to interpret “Camp”. It can be taken as the literal meaning- camp fire, summer time etc, or it can be considered a political camp. The essay “Notes on Camp” by Susan Sontag, which the Met Gala theme is based off of this year, is dedicated to Oscar Wilde. So you may see a lot of outfits symbolizing his works. It is going to for sure be interesting and one that is not to be missed!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend xo
