“may all your vibes say I’ve got this”

Happy Friday and happy Solstice! Today is THE day!!! I am hosting an event at the J.Crew 5th ave. store in Flatiron to celebrate National Stripes Day. Stop by anytime between 4-8pm to shop with me and receive 30% off– RSVP here. I am pretty excited for this event and that it is my 2nd hosting event at J.Crew. The reason why this one is so special is because I used to work at the 5th ave. store years ago. It’s come full circle. Feels pretty surreal. Anyway, if you are in NYC today PLEASE stop by, I would LOVE to meet you!!

If you are like me then you have been glued to your phones anticipating Marissa Fuchs engagement. For those of you living under a rock, Marissa, owner of the fashion blog Fashion Ambitionist,  is currently on a scavenger hunt that will end in a proposal/potential wedding. Tuesday morning Marissa’s boyfriend Gabe posted a well crafted video on Insta Stories asking Marissa to start the journey of a lifetime. Since then we have watched days worth of Marissa going to the Hamptons, Miami, and now Paris. All the while meeting up with friends in surprise visits, gathering jewelry Gabe has left for her, and trying to find her future husband #whereisgabe. He STILL has not been found– although now I believe he will be in Paris. Myself, like everyone else, have been watching non-stop as Marissa and Gabe have been posting Insta Story videos of the journey to what we now believe will end up as a wedding. This social media proposal has caught the attention of People Magazine, Daily News, Guest of a Guest, and other media publications. It’s all over my social media feed as other bloggers are chiming in on the excitement letting others know to watch.  Why do I care so much since I have never met either of them? Well I am a hopeless romantic…..I mean I do clap during Hallmark movies when the main characters finally kiss, and I am a sucker for proposal stories. Anyway, although this is not my style to publicize my (someday) engagement, I do think the scavenger hunt, taking her to all of her favorite places on earth and seeing her friends along the way, is a very cute, romantic, and clever way of doing it. Plus she gets to live out my dream of being proposed to in Paris. I, for one, would prefer a small, creative and romantic proposal where no one else is there– not even family (sorry mom). Still I am very thankful that Marissa and Gabe have taken us on their journey, living out all of our romantic dreams and now a possible wedding in Paris. Plus it’s just really entertaining.

Besides watching a total stranger get proposed to and have her wedding all within the same weekend, this past week was a rainy one. I was not as busy as last week so did not mind the rain. Tuesday afternoon I went to the PR preview of Drew Barrymore’s Flower by Drew new Children’s line and the upcoming fall collection for home. The kids collection is SO cute! I do not have kids and I wanted it all. The line comes out in August and the fall collection for home comes out in October.

Last night I traveled over to Brooklyn for the Beyond The Streets art show. There are was variety of works from different artists showcasing the streets of New York. The way it used to be. From graffiti walls to abstract paintings to structures, there was a lot to look at and admire. My favorite section was the Beastie Boys. It showed old instruments, letters, albums, photos, etc. It was a nice event and I loved seeing the artists creations and interpretations of the streets of New York.

Besides hosting the event at J.Crew this evening I have nothing else planned. It is suppose to rain this weekend so I am probably not going to be doing much. A part of me wants to stay home and read my book all weekend long. I am currently reading Where The Crawdad’s Sing. IT IS SO GOOD! I really am stumped as to how it will end. It’s about a girl who grew up in the marshes of a small town in North Carolina. There is a murder that happens in the town–not a spoiler you know there is a murder that happens in the first few pages and who is killed. The story flips between the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s from when Kya (the marsh girl) is growing up as a kid in the swamp and herself as a young adult. It’s about love, family, nature, murder, vulnerability, isolation, and life. Ugh I can’t put it down!! It is also one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club choices– so if Reese likes it, you know it is a good one!

Have a wonderful weekend xo
