Happy Friday! I am especially happy today is Friday because I am now on vacation mode! My mom is in town for the weekend, then we fly back to Columbus on Sunday. I am spending a week at home to celebrate the 4th of July with my family and friends.
My weekend plans with my mom include showing her the new Hudson Yards. If you have yet to see Hudson Yards, it really is a must. Of course we will be going out to brunch and dinner at come yummy restaurants. We are also going to the MET Museum to see the new exhibition Camp: Notes on Fashion from the MET Gala this past May. From what I have seen in pictures from friends, the exhibition looks amazing! I am so excited to see it! Other than shopping for clothes and looking at clothes we are planning on seeing The Rocketman– the movie about Elton John. We are both HUGE Elton John fans! My mom and I went to his concert together this past fall. Amazing! I think the movie will be good– plus Richard Madden is in it, what more could one person ask for? Anyway, I am happy my mom is here in town and to be spending time with her.
This past week was all about trying to get as much work done before I go on sp I will still work while I am at home, but won’t be glued to my computer and phone 24/7. I had a photoshoot this past Wednesday in Washington Sq. Park that I am so excited to show you! I am making little video (still editing it) that I will hopefully post within the next week or two. The idea sprung from a song that I stumbled upon while I was scrolling through my playlist that I haven’t heard in a very long time. And as if it was serendipitous, the company who I wanted to collaborate with, the only brand that could fit this song/video, reached out to collaborate with me. It was meant to be!
I had two event this past week. The first being the fall preview of Vionic. I have never worn Vionic shoes but I will now. The shoes look SO comfortable as each style has an arch to it. As a dancer I have this fear of fallen arches and becoming flat foot. I may not be a principal dancer at a ballet company, but I’ll be damed if my feet no longer point like a ballerina….. Welcome to my Ted Talk. Moving on, most shoes have little to no arch support, so finding a company that has a Vio-Motion Support is a godsend. The other event I went to is the launch of NatureLab Tokyo, a botanical hair care line. It is free of chemicals, gluten free, and cruelty free. They were kind enough to give us all a few samples of their products, I am excited to test them out!
Last night I went the see the American Ballet Theatre’s performance of Swan Lake. I have seen Swan Lake a number of times but last nights performance was truly amazing!! Like I was giddy happy and clapping throughout the whole thing. Isabella Boylston was Odette and Daniil Simkin was Prince Siegfried. Both Isabella and Daniil are two of my favorite principal dancers at ABT. I have been following both of their careers for many years and each time I see them perform its impeccable. And last night was no exception, they were phenomenal!! From the famous Dance of The Little Swans to Odette and Siegfried’s Pas de Deux, the whole thing was incredible.
As I mentioned I am heading home on Sunday for a week long break. I am excited to spend time with my family– see my grandmother and play with my niece. Also to see my friends and celebrate the 4th of July.
SO happy for Andrea and the arrival of P&P!!!
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy 4th xo
