“don’t ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion.”
Happy Friday!! We are currently under a heat advisory warning. The humidity is bad– tis the season to wear my hair up all day, everyday. But besides the humid temps and me standing in front of an AC unit asking it to better my life, things have been picking up lately. Everyone is either throwing an end of the summer soirée or showcasing fall/winter collections.
DanceBody has introduced new quarter dances. I missed the beginning of learning the dances because I was away for the 4th. Now I am trying to catch up and learn them…Aye yai yai. Recording myself dancing is not just for your pleasure only, I do it so I can practice at home. Last Saturday was my first Full Out class for the new dances and I looked like I have never danced before. I shared a few of my mistakes on Insta Stories– turning a count late, not using the correct arms, not doing the movements at all. I can laugh at it now, but I do get frustrated during the moment. Mostly I get frustrated because the dances are SO FUN and I want to concentrate on actually dancing them, not trying to figure out the movement. By Thursday morning I had a better grasp on the dances (not all and it’s not perfect). Like I said, the summer dances are a lot of fun! There is a new Britney one that is good, a dance to “Tempo” by Lizzo that is fun to do, and one that is a salsa that I LOVE to do. It’s training for when I am on “Dancing With The Stars”.
Besides my 15 minutes of fame DWTS dream, Tuesday I had a few events to attend to. The first being for a semi-new restaurant that opened last year in East Village, Baar Baar. They were hosting an event for people to come and experience the yummy food and drinks. And I have to say they all tasted delicious. I dislike onions and tried their onion rings….. liked them. Still will never order onion rings myself, but for the section I broke off to “try” wasn’t not too shabby for me. They have gluten free options, but not substitutes. Anyway, I had a lot of fun sitting with a few friends catching up while drinking the most delicious cocktails.
After Baar Baar I went to the Blue Nile event where I got to try on a 20 carat diamond engagement ring!! I did not want to take it off. But unfortunately I had to give others a try…… ugh, fine, whatever. I spent most of the time, like everyone else, trying on engagement rings and wedding bands. Always fun to do! I know when I get engaged the type of ring I want, a simple band with a big round-cut diamond (of course), but it is always fun to try on the extravagant rings that only celebrities and royals wear. Anyway, the reason of the event is because Blue Nile now has a new jewelry collaboration with Monique Lhuillier, that is really pretty!
The rest of the week was spent trying to get ahead of my work as things are starting to pick up and my schedule is filling up. I have a few collaborations on the horizon that I am preparing for and will hopefully share next week. Today I have a photoshoot at the Burrow House to introduce one of their new products. Should be a good time! The rest of the weekend is a big question mark. I am suppose to go to the Hamptons tomorrow but as of right now it looks like this is not going to happen anymore. It could be a last minute decision, but it’s looking more towards a no than a yes. Sorta bummed but also not at the same time. Is it sad that I was mostly looking forward to the long train ride so I can read my book, more than being in the Hamptons? Does this make me too old for Montauk and the Surf Lodge? I guess it does. Anyway, I have yet to go to the Hamptons this summer and usually have gone by now at least once. Oh well.
Have you been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I have a little and bought a few things. Some I may return and some I may keep. Haven’t gotten that far yet. The sale is open now to the public, so I am hoping Nordstrom will add more items to the sale. We will have to wait and see!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and please stay cool! xo
