Happy Friday! What a week… TGIF. This week was a rollercoaster of emotions, events, and work. There was the good and the bad. I started this week not in a very good place mentally. All day Sunday and Monday I was struggling, mentally and emotionally. One of those days when you can’t stop the self-criticism. Beyond that I was irritated, sad, angry with everything, and felt defeated. Sometimes you have to go through the downs to appreciate the happy moments. Luckily by Monday evening I was in a much better mood and out of my demoralized mental state. Thanks to being surrounded by friends.
Sometimes when I get like this I need time to myself, and I did that all day Sunday, but once I start to get out of the dark cloud the best remedy is to surround myself with people I love. Monday night I went to Emily’s apartment for a farewell drinks/dinner get together. Emily is leaving New York for 6 months to travel the world with Remote Year. Although I am sad for one of my best friends to leave, I am incredibly happy for her and excited for her adventure. I am hoping to go visit Emily at some point during her travels in the new year. Until then I will be admiring her pictures of her adventures through Instagram like the rest of you. Anyway, there was only a few of us who went to her apartment for drinks and it really made me happy. I needed to be surrounded by people who make me laugh and enjoy life.
Wednesday was my busiest day this past week. I had my bimonthly meeting with my agent to discuss current collaborations, interest, and strategies. Afterwards I went uptown to Sunglass Hut for their new personality activation event. They had this fun personality quiz you can take to figure out what type of sunglass wearer you are– globetrotter, city slicker, trend setter, beach goer, etc. I ended up with city slicker and tried on different types of sunglasses that reflected my personality. After trying on different shades I ended up going with a pair from the globetrotter’s category that I felt better suited by face. Anyway, after I picked out my pair they had a designated area for a photoshoot with a fun nature-inspired backdrop.
That evening I went to the Instyle Summer Social event at Hotel On Rivington. Instyle throws these biannual parties filled with different brand activations such as Vera Bradley, Ketel One, Bulletproof Collagen Power, etc. It is always a fun evening with friends! And not only was it their summer social, we were also celebrating Instyle’s 25th Anniversary! To still be going strong as a magazine in this day and age of technology and social media, it’s pretty impressive! I am so grateful to have been there and to have celebrated with them!
After the Instyle event I went out to dinner with Emily, Emily’s mom, and our friend Gillian at Souvlaki (greek restaurant) before heading to Acme for the rest of the evening. This was Emily’s last stop on her farewell NYC tour. Acme used to be her favorite bar in the city. It is a lot of fun with a great disco ball themed dance floor in the basement. We had fun just chit-chatting and enjoying disco music, which was the theme for the evening. For it being a Wednesday night the crowd was not bad. A big group of people showed up that are all very interesting and fun. We started to chit-chat with a few of them and it turns out that they are part of the same-sex adult entertainment industry…. only in New York, that is for sure. Nice group of guys though! It was a fun evening and a memorable one!
Last night I went uptown to the Baccarat store on Madison Ave. to celebrate the launch of the first ever luxury cake truck. Baccarat partnered with Lady M Cakes to bring a traveling truck that will serve delicious cakes on Baccarat crystal plates. They will first travel around the NYC area then across country. There isn’t a specific route, as of now, but check in on their socials for their location. I know at certain areas, if they can, they will set up an outdoor cafe under chandeliers for a luxury dinning experience. It was a fun evening and we were the first to see the actual truck! Unfortunately I was unable to taste the delicious cakes from Lady M, for which I hear are amazing! They sure did look good! So good that I almost ate one and thought I’ll deal with the consequences of eating gluten later. But ended up not, will power at it’s finest!
This weekend I will be mostly working…. boring I know! I have a few collaborations I need to get done as well as other important blog/real estate stuff to do. I, of course, will be working out. I mostly want to take it easy since I went out a lot this past week and this coming week will be no different. My plan is to finish reading my book and FINALLY watching Avengers: Endgame. I am a fair-weather fan, meaning I had FOMO from everyone talking about Endgame so decided to jump on the bandwagon and watch all of the Marvel movies before seeing Endgame. It’s not that I was not a fan of Marvel movies before, I always watched Spiderman, Captain America when they would come out in theaters, watched the first Iron-Man movie on demand, and of course saw Black Panther in theaters. The rest of the Marvel movies I was not interested in seeing. Finally I cracked and started a Marvel movie marathon. It only took me 6 months to get through all of the movies but I am here and I am ready for Endgame. You can’t tell me I do not have goals in life!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
