“you’re not behind. It’s not too late. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Everything is unfolding. Don’t judge yourself or be hard on yourself about how long something is taking to happen. Be patient. Your time is coming. Just be thankful that you made it this far.”
– Well + Good
Happy Friday! Like many of you I am happy it is finally the weekend! And it’s August, my birthday month! I accept presents in the form of cash or checks.. thank you! Anyway, this week was not as crazy as the previous, but still a fun one.
Monday and Tuesday night I was glued to the TV watching The Bachelorette Finale. You go Hannah Brown! Going into the season I was not so sure if Hannah would be a good bachelorette, but she proved me wrong. Hannah stuck up for herself, stood her ground, wasn’t afraid to tell the truth, demanded what she wanted or needed or move away from something wasn’t right for her (besides Luke P.. ugh). She would call the guys out on their BS. It was amazing to watch. I was so happy to see Hannah dump Jed. I was never a fan of Jed prior to the People Magazine article, it just solidified my feelings towards him. I thought from the beginning, how he constantly brought his guitar to ever.single.date, he was not there for the right reasons. I, like the rest of America, was in love with Tyler C. TYLER C IS NEVER A SECOND CHOICE! Not only he extremely good looking, he is actually a really great guy. Upon leaving The Bachelorette he has started ABC Food Tours where he helps feed and educate kids around NYC. But besides that, the way he talks about other people, especially Hannah, how respectful he is– he is truly a gem and a role model on how guys should be/act. It was a great season and I can’t wait until Bachelor in Paradise starts!
Besides my Bachelor Nation guilty pleasure, I had a few events this past week. The first being the new Blushington pop-up store in Parker New York Hotel. Blushington is rolling out small pop-ups around hotels and airports that are filled with women’s needs– makeup, feminine products, skincare, etc. All products sold at the pop-ups will be TSA approved. This means if you are between flights or flew into the city and forgot makeup remover, bronzer, or you have terrible cramps, Blushington will have you covered to find all of your needs in which you can travel with. Very smart idea! I went to the pop-up Tuesday afternoon; going through the shop, and then into their salon for makeup touchups. I really do not wear that much makeup so it’s always fun to have someone do it for me and maybe add eyeshadow or use a highlighter on my face. It was perfect timing because I had the CFDA event that night and wanted to look my best…… or I thought it was.
I had about an hour to kill between the Blushington event and the CFDA event. I went home to relax, cool off, change my outfit, and grab an Uber. THANK GOD I did because I originally was going to go straight from one event to the other. Well while I was about to order my Uber something told me to check my email. I received an email from CFDA saying they look forward to the party Wednesday night. I was about to go to an event that wasn’t even happening until the following evening! Seriously, thank god I checked my email– that would have been a waste of time and money and embarrassment. I was pretty happy about it because it meant I didn’t miss the final episode of The Bachelorette. I don’t know why I had the date wrong in my Google Calendar. I even keep event invitations on my desktop to confirm locations. Not sure how I missed confirming the event date, but at last I was saved before fully committing to my foolishness.
The next evening was the real date/time of the CFDA event. CFDA- Council of Fashion Designers of America- is a non-profit trade association of American designers. Each year emerging designers (womenswear, menswear, jewelry, accessory) are invited to present their collections to the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund to get funded for their company. One designer is picked from a council, whose chairman is currently Tom Ford, to be the CFDA/Vogue winner where their designs will be funded, showcased in Vogue, and basically kickstart their career. Past CFDA winners include: Brock Collection, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Jonathan Simkhai, Altuzarra… to name a few. Anyway, I was so excited to have been invited to the CFDA Summer Soirée at Chelsea 59 Pier, where they currently hold a portion of NYFW shows. Upon arriving I quickly realized this was more of an industry party than an influencer event. I felt like an unofficial kick off to NYFW before everyone spend the next month running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I immediately questioned how on earth I was invited in the first place. I still question it, but am so grateful I am even on their radar! I didn’t know a single soul except for my friend Chris from NYC Lavish. So I talked to Chris for most of the event, drank champagne, enjoyed the NYC summer night. It was a fun event!
Thursday morning I had the opportunity to see a private screening of the new movie Where’d You Go, Bernadette at the Park Avenue Screening Room. The movie comes out August 16th and I highly suggest seeing it. It’s an adaptation from a book— which I half read. I read it on my Kindle years ago but was getting annoyed with reading on my Kindle so stopped (Kindle and book) and never ended up buying the book to finish. It was something I kept putting off and ended up never doing. Now I wish I had! I will eventually read it, I know. The movie was enjoyable!
This weekend I have nothing really on the agenda except the usually: workout, drinks with friends, laying out in the park, reading my new book, etc. I started watching Netflix’s new 4-part mini-series When They See Us, based on the real life events of the Central Park 5. I have only watched the first episode and it is truly heartbreaking. Previous to the mini-series I knew of the story of the Central Park Jogger and the 5 boys, but didn’t know too much information on it as I was very little when it happened in the late 80’s. Anyway, I highly suggest watching it– it’s well done!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
