Happy Friday and Happy Labor Day Weekend! I honestly forgot it was LDW until Wednesday when I was watching TV and a commercial came on about Labor Day Sales. Needless to say I didn’t plan anything fun. A good thing since I am now sick with a nasty cold. I started feeling unwell Monday, I knew a cold was coming on. It was a type of sick feeling where you know you are getting sick but you also have the energy to do normal things. I took naps here and there throughout the week while trying to push through my work and events. Today, however, I am taking a “sick” day. By that I mean I slept in (went to bed at 9:30pm and did not set my alarm, woke up at 10am), cancelled my workout, and am planning on covering myself with a blanket while watching Netflix. I will still be doing work here and there. Enjoy your vacations to the beach…. I am jealous, drink a glass of champagne for me.
Last weekend my sister was in town to celebrate my birthday. We had the best time! As I mentioned in last weeks Friday’s Simply Smitten Series, the two of us have not had one-on-one time since she had my niece was born almost 3 years ago. It was a long overdue sister time that we desperately needed. I took her to all of the new places in New York that she has not seen– Hudson Yards, The Oculus/ 9/11 Memorial (finishing touches). We were suppose to go to Amanda Kloot’s class Saturday morning but the class was cancelled because there was (still is) a maintenance issue at Energi Studio. We were pretty bummed because we wanted to dance. We found out Saturday morning a few hours before class started so it was too late to schedule another workout. We decided to walk the West Side Highway and ended up going kayaking in the river. We had lot of fun doing it! Then I took her to the Met Museum’s Met Gala Exhibition. I have already seen the exhibition this past June with my mom, but knew this was something my sister does not see everyday and would enjoy. On my birthday night (Saturday) we went to Rosemary’s for dinner in the West Village then went to my favorite bar Marie’s Crisis. SO MUCH FUN! Marie’s Crisis is a broadway piano bar, a gem of a place in West Village. Everyone who goes there seems like they are suppose to be on broadway, they are amazing singers. Then there is me who is not the best singer but does not care and will sing every song ever made. My sister was loving every minute of it and so was I. It was a great birthday!
This week I had a few events to attend to. Monday I went to the kick-off event for Florence by Mills, which is Millie Bobby Brown’s new makeup and skincare line. Millie Bobby Brown spoke, she is truly the cutest kid. She was nervous but did a great job! The makeup palettes look amazing and they sent us home with a goodie bag that I am excited to start trying.
Wednesday was filled with events starting with Allswell. They have new blankets, duvets, and beds coming out very soon. All feels so comfortable, let me tell ya! I wanted to curl up in a bed and take a nap. They sent us home with a new pillow that I have been using and love. After Allswell I went downtown to the Aurate offices to pick out jewelry to wear during NYFW. They are so sweet to let me borrow a few pair of earrings and rings to top off my outfits. What I picked out: circle earrings, flower ear jacket, infinity heart ring, geometric square band.
Wednesday evening I went to a panel discussion at Fohr. James Nord, CEO of Fohr, and a few influencers (Drew, Victoria, and Caitlyn) spoke about the blogging community; tips, advice, etc. Most of it I already knew, but it was a nice reminder that I should be doing some things better or more often. The evening was great and as always James was hilarious.
This weekend I have no set plans. Hopefully I will be feeling better so I can grab drinks or brunch with friends. Until then I will be cuddling on the couch and shopping Labor Day Sales!
Have a wonderful weekend xo
