lululemon

Lately, when it comes to my workout I have been sticking to a routine; dance cardio, pilates, yoga, HIIT workouts, and sculpt classes. I have not been really venturing out of the norm and trying new, to me, style workouts. I have tried a few new studios but most have stuck to the ones that I love doing the most. Here are two new studios that I have loved going to and one that is an oldie but a goodie.

[solidcore]

A few months ago I went to [soildcore] for the first time. I wanted to escalate my pilates workout and knew that mega- reformer was the way to do it! [soildcore] is an intense workout. I had to modify half of the movements during my first class. This was not the first time I have taken mega-reformer, but it has been a few years so my body was not used to this type of workout. It involves strength, balance, and flexibility. By my second class I did a much better job, maybe this time around my body was familiarized with the movements. What I love about mega-reformer workouts is that it seems so simple, yet requires so much strength. You feel so powerful when you are moving the machine- I love it! It’s also a fun workout with great music and positive energy. [soildcore] is on ClassPass.

Precision Run

My friend Sarah, from City Fit Life, is now a teacher at Precision Run. I decided to take her class about a month ago and absolutely loved it. The studio is sleek! The treadmills are user-friendly yet high tech. Precision Run is all about intervals– speed, incline. I am not much of a runner. I do enjoy it, but I am not running 7 miles outside. I much prefer to run on a treadmill and want someone to tell me what to do, otherwise I get bored and stop. Precision Run is a great workout for all levels. You can go your own speed, walk if you want to. I have been dying to go back, but unfortunately it is not on ClassPass.

Barry’s Bootcamp

Ahh Barry’s Bootcamp, how we meet again. I have been going to Barry’s for years now. I do not do it religiously, but I go every once in a while. Fun fact: Barry’s has been around since the 90’s. I heard that little tidbit recently and I found it to be pretty impressive; especially now when fitness is all the rage and you can go to tons of different workouts. For a fitness studio to last 20 years shows that it works and creates results. For those of you who have never been to Barry’s, it’s a HIIT workout. You split up into two groups; the first group starts on the treadmill and the second group is on the floor lifting weights, then you switch. It’s a pretty intense workout. The first time I tried Barry’s I was sprinting on the treadmill, I had the image of a cartoon whose skin leaves the body and all you see is its skeleton. But I do not want to scare you away, Barry’s is fun and if you want to see results then this is for you! You put as much effort into the class as you want, from going your own speed to using lighter weights. Barry’s is on ClassPass.
