There is no better place on earth to be during the holiday season than New York. The city knows how to do the holidays right. From Central Park to Battery Park the city turns into a magical place. Every corner you turn there is a display of lights, wreaths, and beautiful Christmas trees. It makes even the Scroogiest of people have a little jingle to their walk. There is so much to do here in the city during the holidays, but I have rounded up the top 5 must-see and do here in New York City.

The Nutcracker
My favorite holiday tradition is seeing The Nutcracker. Each year I head to the David H. Koch Theater to watch the New York City Ballet perform The Nutcracker. I love The Waltz of the Snowflakes; it fills me with so much joy! From fighting the Mouse King to the Sugar Plum Fairy, it’s a performance that is magical, nostalgic, and fun.
Radio City Rockettes
The most joyful holiday show there is, the Radio City Rockettes is a must-see! It’s a show for all ages; young and old. From the beautiful high-kicking dancers to the entertaining singers to the big man himself, Santa Clause, this show is filled with joy, laughter, and magic. Of course the dancers are my favorite part… if only I was an inch taller I would audition to be a Rockette. Sigh, I will just have to pretend to do the kick line alone in my room after seeing the ladies perform! Going to the Christmas Spectacular is something I recommend for everyone to see at least once in their life.
Christmas Trees
There are so many wonderfully huge Christmas trees to see in the city. The most famous one being the Rockefeller Center, of course. But there are a lot of hidden tree’s around the city that are just as wonderful; The Palace Hotel (the one in the photos), The Plaza Hotel, Washington Square Park, South Street Seaport, The NYC Stock Exchange, The NYC Public Library, Bryant Park, and The Met Museum.
5th Ave. Window Displays
The store window displays on 5th Ave. have become somewhat of a spectacle within itself. Each season stores like SAKS, Macy’s, Bergdorf Goodmans, and Bloomingdales have a big holiday window display for all to see. Some even throw an event to unveil the delightful display.
Ice Skating
Ice skating is something I have yet to do here in the city. It’s been on my NYC bucket list since I first moved here, and somehow, each year, I never end up doing it. Yet there are many locations in the city to go ice skating; Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, Brookfield Place, Pier 17, Chelsea Piers, and The Standard Hotel.
