“One day the blessings you prayed for will be the blessing you now hold”

Happy Friday!! I am back in New York, enjoying every second of the holiday season here. There is no place like New York City during the holidays. From the 5th A.ve window displays to The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to The Nutcracker and The Rockettes, so much merry is to be had in the city during this magical time.

Being home for a week for Thanksgiving was a joy! I had a lot of fun with my family and it was nice to just be in the comfort of my childhood home. During the week I was petsitting my cousin’s dog Yoshi, a 4-month-old black pug. Super cute! Since I want to get a dog someday in the near future, it was a nice practice for me to take care of a puppy. Of course I had dogs growing up, but my parents took on the responsibilities while my sister and I got playtime. But besides dogsitting, I spent a lot of time with my niece who I adore more than anything. She has such a fun personality! I spent as much quality time as I could; playing with her, just being around her. She apparently thinks I am her sister, haha–if that makes me younger than I am, I’ll take it! Anyway, I went over to my sister’s house to watch OSU beat Michigan, and to hang out with my niece. We had a lot of fun cheering on the Buckeyes!

Besides watching THE game with my sister, we also went to see ‘A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood’ starring Tom Hanks. It’s about Mister Rogers. I absolutely loved it! There are a few parts where I cried. They were not sad parts, but moments that were just so lovely. Here is a man who is beloved by everyone. It does not matter your race, gender, age, religion; Mister Rogers is loved, adored, and respected. And he isn’t loved out of money, politics, Instagram followers, immaturity, out of sexual content or vulgarity, he is loved for being kind. A kindness we all need more of. There is no one like Mister Rogers nowadays– someone that is teaching kids (and adults) to be kind, accepting, and how to deal with our emotions. Did we all forget his lessons? Because I think we really need it a refresh course. Anyway, the moments that I got emotional were because all of that- the influence this man has over us all through kindness. Most of the story, if you are unfamiliar, is told by the reporter’s point of view, so most of the movie is about his life and how Mister Roger’s helped him. By the way, this is a true story. Anyway, I do wish we got to learn more about Mister Rogers and his life, but from what I gathered from the movie he was sorta a closed book when it came to that. It is still a great movie and one I highly, highly suggest seeing! Plus Tom Hanks is basically a modern-day Mister Rogers– see article here.

Since being back from Thanksgiving spent in Columbus, there hasn’t been much going on. I didn’t accept any invitations to events this past week as I wanted time for myself, to spend time with others, and enjoy the holiday season here. I spent most of the week watching holiday specials; The Rockefeller Tree Lighting, Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show (which I love!!), and Brad Paisley Thinks He’s Special. I love Christmas specials!

This weekend the only thing I have is Suite by Jennifer Diederich x Frances Valentine event tomorrow afternoon. Before I head to the event I am going to The Dance by Amanda Kloots— subbing for her while Amanda plant roots in LA (boooo- come back!) is my friend, Lindsay Howe. I posted my “Rockettes” dance from last year during Amanda’s class, and Lindsay promises me some Christmas songs and Rockette moves for tomorrow. So I am very excited to dance!! Other than that I have nothing else on the agenda– well besides binge-watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend xo
